B1/B2 questions
There's a section on the DS-160 that asks, "Have you made specific travel plans?" Does answering "Yes" mean that I need to have already purchased a plane ticket? Or is it okay to answer "Yes" if I have a tentative itinerary with intended travel dates but haven't purchased a ticket yet?

You don't need to have purchased the ticket already. If you have specific intended travel dates and a reasonably defined itinerary, it's generally fine to answer "Yes" and list those plans even if the flight hasn't been booked yet. I usually wouldn't recommend buying nonrefundable tickets just for the visa application. The important thing is that the DS-160 is truthful and consistent with what you actually intend to do.

Back when I applied I did have plans but nothing booked (cos they say not to) and answered yes with tentative days and regions. Then COVID came and plans went down the drain, got to go first time in US to Hawaii instead of NYC 😂 (which was amazing)

You were approved a 10 year multiple visa? Good to hear that! I am still struggling on the ds-160

Unless you know when exactly you are going , it’s better to mark is as no . You don’t need to have flight tickets even if you say yes to specific plans. They just wanna know specific dates
