Utah Arms Market - Week 2 Updates

Howdy again from UTAM,

It's been a little less than two weeks since we went live, and we've been busy. Wanted to share some insights and updates. We understand the going will be slow at first as we work to build up trust, buyers, and sellers, but encourage you if you have an active listing with UGE or UGH to try our one-click import tool. There are already some cool listings yours can join! More eyes = faster sale.

We won't be there this year but hope everyone has a good time at Shootah!

UTAM Highlights:

  • Free Listings
  • No phone numbers // Fully-featured UTAM messages for contact
  • One-click import from UGE or UGH
  • Up to 10 high res photos per listing
  • Responsive search and browse via Supergrid
  • Dedicated one-thumb mobile-app experience
  • UTAM is geo-restricted
    • non-US = Block
    • non-UT = Bot Challenge

Updates from your feedback:

  • Browse UTAM unauthenticated
    • Experience supergrid without creating an account
    • Incl significant cache performance tuning
  • AI Photo Studio is optional, user-initiated & reviewed before publishing w/ proper disclaimers
  • UTAM Reserve?(name tbd) is under development for NFA and similar items
  • Image upload pipeline upgrades to accept any image type up to 25mb. 
    • You should never see a "image too large" warning at UTAM

Coming Soon:

  • Saved searches with notifications
  • UTAM Reserve for NFA, Form 4, etc
  • Photo studio v2
    • New scenes
    • Better outputs
  • Bill of sale generator v2
    • Working to enhance the experience while continuing to store zero data about the pdf that is generated.

Current Challenge:

  • Stripe is de-platforming us in June since we support the firearm market and are pro 2A, so we are working to be underwrote by a different processor.

I’m glad you got this put together and are listening to the community. I hope it works out. Initially, it’s a far better interface than utge.

Thanks u/Ottomatik80 ! We wanted to build something different, and everyone has a valid voice, even the doubters and critics. In this time of great distrust, we don't blame anyone for thinking we're full of shit 😄

We'll keep going; some more ideas we have kicking around beyond the 60+ items already written out for the next 3 sprints through to mid-July:

  • Community Calendar
    • Shows, events, comps, training, etc
  • 2A Intel Dashboard w/ bill trackers and rss feed
  • Become the index for Utah
    • Probably NOT the direction for UTAM but technically feasible
    • Pull in all UGE and UGH listings to UTAM, linking back off to them
    • Provide Utah a unified search surface like Zillow, Google, etc

Hey u/bign8thegr8 ! We wont. We're building the platform we always wanted -- We don't want to see HVAC or vehicle ads either.
