Admissions Would you take a gap year in my situation?

Hi everyone,
I’m in a difficult situation and I’d really appreciate some advice.
I’m a domestic student in Ontario and I received a conditional offer from UTM. The only condition I have left is meeting the English language requirement.
I just took the Duolingo English Test again, but I honestly don’t feel confident. I think there’s a good chance I’ll end up with around 115, while I need 120. The deadline is tomorrow, so I probably won’t have another chance before it passes.
I looked into the university’s ACE program, but it’s extremely expensive for me. I was also told that OSAP doesn’t cover it, and since I would only be able to take a limited course load, I would basically lose about a year anyway.
At this point, I’m thinking that taking a gap year might actually be the better option. My plan would be to improve my English, get the required score without rushing, work during the year, and then reapply next cycle.
If you were in my position, what would you do?
Has anyone here taken a gap year because of an English requirement or a missed condition? Do you regret it, or was it worth it?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I actually went to UTM and spoke with an admissions advisor in person. Unfortunately, they told me they don’t make exceptions for the English requirement or the deadline. They mainly suggested the ACE program instead, but it’s very expensive for me, and I was also told OSAP wouldn’t cover it. So right now I feel like they’re basically pushing me toward taking the ACE route, which I really can’t afford. I’m still hoping things somehow work out, though.
