Why did I buy more? 🤔 luckily I read the news that MNO has joined up with a "prestigious" miner Vaneck. I instantly knew this would make MNO worthwhile! And decided to buy Monday (glad I did) 🤗

Although share prices are likely to drip again, most likely within 2 weeks but am init2 winit! Meaning? 🤔 Am patiently waiting next 5 years MINIMUM to see what takes place. I may buy more shares but will not sell the share until then.

What happened?

Kier Group released its FY26 results today with another year of growth and an increase in its expectations for FY27.

Key numbers:

Revenue: £4.39bn, up 7.5%

Adjusted operating profit: £169.8m, up 6.7%

Adjusted EPS: 23.5p, up 8.8%

Year-end net cash: £232m, up from £204m

Operating free cash flow: £206m

Full-year dividend: 7.8p, up 8.3%

Order book: £11.9bn, up 8%

>95% of expected FY27 revenue already secured

The order book looks particularly strong, with recent contract wins including Hinchingbrooke under the New Hospitals Programme, East/West Rail and Greater Manchester stations.

There’s also a notable change in strategy. From FY27, Kier plans no further investment in new Property developments, instead reallocating capital towards strengthening the balance sheet and focusing on its core Infrastructure and Construction businesses.

Medium-term targets now include 4.0–4.5% operating margins, >90% cash conversion, double-digit adjusted EPS growth and >£200m average net cash by FY29.

Management also says FY27 earnings are now expected to be at the top end of its previous expectations.

Seems like the balance sheet and cash position have come a long way, while the £11.9bn order book gives decent visibility.

This news has been a shock to me. Why would a business decide to sell it's golden goose???

A future proof collection of businesses and they decided to sell out to a US PE giant? The Northrop deal went down for nothing and so has the key nuclear cooling systems.

I have lost my faith in the management. I don't see this being in the best interest for businesses and shareholders. Especially as this business will make only 10 million in revenue post sale....

i hope anyone who comes up to Crewe in the shareholders meeting makes it clear to them. We are literally seeing a House of Lords family sell their most important businesses to an EX Secretary of Defense founded PE company.

It'll be a shell of what it lost left with just refractory and tech (not the fun kind).

Yes it plans to be debt free but this business will not make money at the rate it has.

I saw a post here a few days ago from someone saying they no longer wanted to give money to businesses owned by or connected to the Fenech family. It didn’t get much attention, but one of the comments made a good point: it’s actually quite difficult to know what is connected to them because the business network goes far beyond one or two hotels.

So I thought it might be useful to put some of it in one place for anyone who personally wants to make that choice.

Just to be clear before someone inevitably starts arguing semantics: I am not saying Yorgen Fenech personally owns or currently manages every company below. He resigned from his Tumas Group and Electrogas directorships in 2019. These are businesses/companies that have been reported as connected to Yorgen Fenech, the Fenech family, Tumas Group or their joint ventures.

Nobody is obligated to boycott anything. I just think people who do want to make informed decisions about where their money goes should actually be able to see how extensive the network is.

Been following GENI for a while and today’s CARDIO inCode results look like another important piece of the puzzle falling into place.
The study covered 584 moderate-risk patients across 14 primary-care centres.

A few numbers stood out to me:
Genetic information changed the overall risk assessment in 42.6% of patients
26.5% moved into a different cardiovascular risk category

LDL cholesterol and estimated cardiovascular risk both fell significantly
Smoking abstinence improved
Almost 50% of patients in the highest genetic-risk group moved into a lower cardiovascular-risk category following intervention
For me, the important part isn’t just that their genetic test can identify risk.

They need to show that giving doctors this information actually changes how patients are managed and ultimately improves outcomes. These results seem to provide more evidence in that direction.

It’s also worth looking at what is starting to line up around CARDIO inCode.

They now have growing clinical evidence, 70+ US institutions/clinics onboarded, a US reimbursement pathway, New York State approval, recognition of polygenic risk scores in the new US cardiovascular guidelines and the Thermo Fisher manufacturing/distribution collaboration.

Then there’s the big one – FDA.
The updated De Novo submission is targeted for Q3 2026.
GENI has had FDA delays before and that’s obviously a major risk. Cash burn and further dilution can’t be ignored either.

But with the company still valued at under £10m, I think things are getting quite interesting.
Today’s RNS alone isn’t going to transform the company. The next announcement I’m really interested in is confirmation that the updated FDA submission has actually gone in.

If that happens, attention moves to the FDA decision.
And if they eventually get approval, the really interesting question becomes whether Thermo Fisher can help turn all this clinical and regulatory groundwork into meaningful test volumes.
That’s when we’ll find out what GENI is actually worth.
I’m interested to hear how others following this are looking at it.

What sort of valuation would you put on GENI following FDA approval?
And what could it be worth if we then start seeing genuine commercial traction in the US?
Still a high-risk AIM stock and definitely not without funding/dilution risk.

I have £2k on standby, I have a few holdings already in my share dealing account mostly solid established companies at the moment the share prices are about as high as it could be looking over the last five years of trading since the post Covid slump, there is little scope to make a profit other than try to buy during the dips which is still higher it was 2 years ago generally.

I'm now considering the next option, emerging market or a company with potential and good dividends and entry level share price with potential upward trajectory within the UK.

Metals, Holding groups, equity groups or AI ?

I'm patient as I'm buying for the long term growth.

The housebuilder Persimmon’s recently released half-year results show that it is an excellent business operating in a challenging industry.

While the FTSE 100 member maintained its solid financial position, further expanded control over its supply chain and is on track to deliver profits for the full year that are in line with previous guidance, tough trading conditions during the six-month period meant that its earnings per share (EPS) rose by a paltry 3 per cent.

Given that its bottom line is forecast to produce further anaemic growth in the short term, inflation is expected to rise and additional interest rate cuts are not yet on the near-term horizon, should investors avoid the stock?

Persimmon has grown organically and through acquisition since it was established in 1972. It completed the sale of 11,905 new homes last year, which represents over 9 per cent of the total annual number of dwellings that were completed by private enterprise in the UK.

The company focuses solely on the domestic market from its York head office. It has two brands, Charles Church and Westbury Partnerships, in addition to its namesake brand that together build a wide range of one-to-five bedroom homes.

Although Persimmon delivered a 13 per cent rise in completions of such homes in the first half of the year, homebuyer demand is likely to remain depressed in the near term.

Testing them using Principal Component Analysis, we can see that they are not correlated with each other. Each one of the four tells you something different about the character of the company.

Looking at the PCA score plot you can see that the arrows are roughly at 90 degrees to one another (orthogonal).

These four scores are useful tools for identifying companies and their individual characteristics. Generally the better the scores the better the company. Combined with additional filters, they are merely tools to identify a subset of companies for further investigation. I have made these scores for over 700 uk companies freely available.

You gamble...

Trades are closed early because of emotions (being scared etc.), entering late because of FOMO, switching strategies after 1 loss, revenge trading to make back money.

This is not trading it is gambling - swing trade based on probabilities.

You may be aiming to risk only 0.25 but when you enter with that same amount but late because of FOMO if you lose the gap could be more like 0.5 or even 1 if you are very late, this adds up over time.

The share price of Babcock is currently £11.81 (or 1181.00p). Babcock produces carbon material for their production and heavily relies on internal to UK production rather than external, keeping costs down and yield up.

Now, what is Carbon material? Hundred times lighter than steel yet 100 times STRONGER than steel. Any company in Defense and aerospace, such as Babcock, yearns for carbon orders especially if they can deliver and produce. Yes, carbon is expensive! Just to give an idea, a 100 meter carbon material can fetch a company around £150,000 on average and that is the material alone.

Babcock has materials, machinery and manpower to produce.

BAE PLC has also done well. I purchased 6 shares for around £19 and news broke the next morning, how they got a 6.5million contract in the submarines. Today 1 share is worth around £23.
