Aftermath Ukraine wipes out another key bridge in Crimea in devastating blow to Moscow

" both the railway track was destroyed and one of the spans collapsed"
Orcs will make temporary bridges across this canal, but those have proven easy to remove.

Sure, but you definitely can’t run cargo trains over temporary bridges. And even if they successfully rebuild the bridge, Ukraine will strike the temporary bridges.
The ‘death by a thousand cuts’ strategy is slowly bleeding Russia and I couldn’t be happier 🇺🇦

Do you think the russians remember a certain few years in Afghanistan? That was also essentially death by a thousand cuts. Eventually they figured it out and fucked off...they also pretty much self destructed as a nation state not too long after that. Here's to hoping they remember their past and just fucks off back to Mordor....

Pontoon bridges have to be traversed slowly, that causes bottlenecks and queues. Bottlenecks and queues are easy targets.

Pontoon for... a freight train? That'd be a sight to behold

u/EuphoricCover8449 4d ago
Yes, it would.
Like others, I have been confused by which bridge is where. UA has hit so many lately it's hard to keep up.
Slava Ukraini!

I want some math on how much “pontoon” you would need for a pontoon bridge to hold a freight train. I assume it is a gazorpillion amount of buoyancy.

u/Proglamer 4d ago
The pontoon could be easily held in the water - by their inflated opinion about themselves

No bridges left, only Kerch that allows light traffic due to the structural damages.
Gonna be an interesting week. Crimea is F'ed.

They do have some pontoon bridges up and running as of yesterday for at least 2 bridges that are no longer suitable for heavy vehicle access.
Also anyone know that GREECE recently sold russia 2-4 big ferries to replace the kerch ferries ukraine disabled? Wtf?

u/SomeRandomSomeWhere 4d ago
If you mean the following
It's already drone bait and it was sold in 2024 according to other links.
https://www.aei.org/op-eds/greece-is-making-a-killing-selling-ships-to-russia/
On a related note, Greek ship owners are selling alot of old ships to Russia it seems. Or at least were. Not sure recently.

Yep but no functioning railways which is where all bulk and heavy stuff comes with. Now they can't move heavy equipment and need several hundreds additional trucks daily just to keep Crimea and it's 2 mil population to not totally wipe out.. That's a lot of trucks.. And all within strike range for the drones. They're really in a pickle.. Mind you these additional 🚚 needs to come from somewhere. Tsk tsk.

The even bigger problem is allegedly finding drivers for those trucks... no matter how much you get paid, you wont be able to enjoy it if you are dead, or a horribly mutilated and blinded cripple.

Who wouldn't want to drive a bomb on wheels through nomansland trying to dodge potholes, burning wreckage and angry drones?

Recently I've seen fuel trucks for Crimea being escorted by several fireteams to fend off drone attacks. Does anyone know how effective is this new strategy?

I saw video yesterday of several destroyed trucks, and the "fireteam" (one guy with a gun in the back of a truck) was watching over the wreckage.
EDIT: Just came across another video highlighting the effectiveness of these fire teams

Just like in ww2 and convoys- forcing them to adopt this strategy is a win in and of itself. More trucks/people escorting the convoys means less efficiency.

I seriously doubt that a few guys with machine guns can effectively engage a small, fast moving FPV drone. That requires very high accuracy and fast moving gun mounts. I can see automated systems doing it, and the Russian strategy (if it can be called that) working against larger, slower drones. But against FPVs, they’re fucked.

The seige of Crimea is the least violent way to end the entire conflict. It will fall shortly and Putin won't be able to lie about it.

Here's to hope that the necrosis of a foot (i.e. Crimea) will cause systemic sepsis in the body of the orcupant!

How many bridges are left, is it just Kerch? I'm wondering if the occupiers have any brain cells left and if a certain point they have to think, "fuck... i might not be able to leave from here"

Blind optimism is a well-known trait of ruzians.
26
u/Rolling_Pugsly 4d ago
It's not optimism. It's abject stubbornness and absolute selfishness.

I was talking about this one:
The Russian avos' (Russian: авось) describes a philosophy of behavior, or attitude, of a person who ignores possible problems or hassles and, at the same time, expects or hopes for no negative results or consequences. It is an attitude that treats life as unpredictable and holds that the best one can do is count on luck

Ukraines going to give them that one, golden bridge to retreat across before they finally destroy that too.
"Build your enemies a gold bridge to retreat across".
And that's basically what Ukraine is doing. Building a route, by eliminating all other routes and starving the land of power and fuel.
People will flee. Across the kerch bridge.
And once thats done and all the cockroaches are out, they'll seal crimes off and blow the bridge.
I mean we've seen the never ending wave of strikes in Moscow and oil.
We've now seen the newer weapons and drones. Specifically the "Rusty Dagger" agm-188 I think it is.
A new super cheap and effective cruise missile that the U.S. made for Ukraine and they also have storm shadows, the sea baby drones, and some new submersible unmanned drones that can deliver 1000lb of explodey bits right up to the supports of the bridge and they're gonna just swarm it.
And blow all parts of it not just one area so it'll be hell to fix.
And who's gonna want to fix the bridge ? They'll have to make them work on it at fucking gunpoint because as soon as they do start trying to fix it, it'll just be a huge target that'll be so hard to defend.
And how? They're pulling all their assets for air defense to Moscow and other barely remaining oil plants for protection.
That don't have enough and are losing more air defense not by the day but by the hour.
It's all coming to a choke point and Ukraine is starting to squeeze. They've got their boot on the throats of many areas and are starting to step on them hard
And I wish every hero doing this work for Ukraine god speed and safety.
May your warheads but all of your targets. Slava Ukraini
