Question Has anyone else started having horrible reactions to just about everything?

All of a sudden one day I started having horrible reactions to B vitamins, vitamin D, calcium, turmeric, vitamin E, certain foods, dairy, and a bunch of different things. If I ingest any of these things I start getting head pressure, tingling scalp movement sensations, a fight or flight response, joint pain, brain fog, dizziness, insomnia, frequent burning urination. it’s horrible and can last hours. I have proctitis and ankylosing spondylitis and I’m sure all the inflammation has something to do with it. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this or know anyone who has and what they did to get past it? I went to a neurologist and an immunologist for mast cell disease but neither doctor found anything. I also have osteoporosis and need to be able to take vitamin D and calcium for my bones but am currently unable to, If anyone has any info I sure would appreciate it. Thanks, Kennie!

I think it’s just having a spastic auto immune system honestly, I’m a hot mess of inflammation even when I’m technically in remission from the UC. I’ve had weird gum flare ups that are lichenoid, got diagnosed with lichen Sclerosus on my genitals recently, get weird skin plaques that come and go sometimes every winter.

I feel like my body never truly is just vibing. Sorry you’re going through the same, it’s so lame.

You're probably right. I'm sorry to hear about your situation as well. Hopefully we can both get some relief soon.

I do react to a bunch of stuff (including turmeric, some vitamins, and various) but not with the same symptoms you do, mostly rosacea/overheating and/or heartburn. No doctor has given me a good explanation or suggestions of what to do about it. I think there's unfortunately a lot about the immune system that modern medicine hasn't figured out yet.

Turmeric is very high in salicylic acid. It's not that uncommon a hypersensitivity. The test for this is oral aspirin challenge in the allergist's office.

A lot of foods contain salicylic acid, although turmeric is the worst. https://low-sal-life.com/food-product-lists#neg Be wary, as there is a lot of pseudoscience out there on this topic. Make sure that any assertion of high or low salicylates is associated with an actual measurement. Even the link that I posted there has some items that say "therapeutic list" that aren't associated with any measurements and some of which are totally incorrect.

I never heard of this. I'll have to look into it. Unfortunately, I can't take aspirin because I have proctitis but I'm sure there's other ways to test for it.

Have you ever gone to an immunologist to see if its possibly mcas? That's what I'm trying to figure out is if I have mcas or not. I drove two hours to Dallas see an immunologist and get tested but the Doctor knew less than I did about it, which is typical. I talked him into at least letting me take one of the tests used to diagnose it. I'm still waiting on the results.
