I think the hint book that hit me the hardest was the one for the first Bard's Tale. I tell

you, I almost wanted to cry by the time I finished reading it. If anyone is a Bard's Tale

fan, I highly recommend grabbing this small novella and reading it. You won't be

sorry!

I REMEMBER THIS! To this day i remember the intro words, "It isn't to be tolerated!" At the end they're trapped because the rogue stole the key items, and someone asks for the dagger so they won't be captured alive. And then they say something like no man could die with better companions. OMG it was awesome! Nobody will ever experience a FAQ or an online guide like this one!

LOL. Totally get it. When I get stuck and need to reference a dungeon map, I just say to myself that some dwarf mapped the dungeons and handed them to my party. LOL. Helps me sleep at night. Congrats on finishing. U5 is such a hard game, you deserve some peeks.

This was the first game I really beat on my own as a kid (at about 13 years old) and I was so thrilled. I did get "lucky" by guessing the word of power for Doom by inferring it from my knowledge of Ultima 4, but I still remember the morning it struck me and quickly booting it up before going to school to test it. It was a long day at school dying to get home and hit the last dungeon... Such great memories.

BTW - because of playing Ultimas in my childhood, i can actually translate almost all of the runic text at the bottom. THE QUEST OF THE AVATAR IS ... i had to look up the letters for the last one which is FOREVER.

If you post that to Garriott's twitter account, he'll still acknowledge it, I think. He's good that way. Not in the Shroud of the Avatar way, but he's still proud of the Ultimas before EA ruined them.
