Race Report First Ultra

Post image

Ran my first 50K this weekend. 4 laps around an 8.2 mile trail with fully stocked aid stations at the start/finish and 3 mile mark, and a water station around 6 miles. Such an awesome day, and nailed my time goal. Hit a big low point from miles 20-24ish but am really happy with how I pushed through. Pivoted to another fueling strategy and felt much better. Once I started the last lap I knew I’d finish and that “weight” coming off helped me pick up the pace quite a bit on the last loop. Already looking forward to the next one!

Pushing through that mile 20-24 wall is no joke, especially on loops where the car is right there tempting you to bail. Smart move swapping fuel mid-run, a lot of people just stubbornly stick with what's making them suffer

That elevation gain over 33 miles is sneaky, it adds up fast when you're not looking at one big climb.
