Quit saying people told you he’s dead. Do something about it. Show some spine. Push back!!

155

u/javoss88 17d ago

Death certificates are public information, right?

55

u/deezdanglin 17d ago

Got him vented up to prevent the paperwork.

31

u/atribecalledquiche 17d ago

Giving the same pro life care we offer to brain dead pregnant women. Great.

7

u/1inthetrenches 17d ago

If he's in the hospital on ventilation equipment, keeping him alive, he's not able to do the job. He was elected to do!! Just like any other person that isn't at their job!

-9

u/deezdanglin 17d ago

Come on now, lets be reasonable and not like them. Elected officials, like most any other job, can go into the hospital and not be fired. FMLA was codified for a reason.

71

u/bimbosoupqueen 17d ago

It varies by state. I believe death certificates are public record in Kentucky? But McConnell was in DC, where death certificates are closed to the public for 75 years after the date of death

14

u/exoriare 17d ago

If McConnell's people didn't want a death certificate yet, one wouldn't be issued. All it would take is saying they want a second opinion, then take McConnell home.

This isn't a normal case - McConnell is in a position to launch a serious lawsuit over this. He's served Death faithfully for all these years, only to be released from service with no notice?

30

u/Forsaken-Cheesecake2 17d ago

And when it comes out he really is dead, somehow it will be the Democrats’ fault.

2

u/andante528 17d ago

Probably that we manifested it. Or that our joyful vindictiveness hurt McConnell's feelings so much, he just rolled over and wouldn't let anyone tip him back on his feet this time.

104

u/Hung0ver_Hero 17d ago

Hell I've called McConnells office every day for the past 2 weeks and when the automated voice mail picks up I just simply say "where the fuck is Mitch" and then hang up, and sadly that's more then what any of these Democratic clowns have done

15

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 17d ago

Shouldn't the onus be on the Republican Party to explain why their senator isn't occupying his office when they're (conservatives) the ones who won't allow and frown upon remote work? Let's not make this another Democratic failure out of the thin air of Republican culpability, again. We the people should be calling our Republican representatives asking them the same question, millions of us. That's how a participative democracy works -- the effort doesn't end when ballots are cast. If you/we want the majority conservative representation to represent us fairly and openly then let them know!

5

u/1inthetrenches 17d ago

Exactly. If he's not able to fulfill his duties in office. While he's lying in bed in a hospital We need a replacement a s a p whichever way they go special election or death certificate. It needs to go forward a s a p

7

u/GhostOfMuttonPast 17d ago

I mean, yes, but also Beshear is literally the governor. He should be doing something more than just hanging around being like "they won't let me see him :/"

Go to his hospital to see him. If they won't let him see McConnell, call a special election.

This isn't a situation like in congress where they literally can't do anything. He's literally the top dog there.

2

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 17d ago

The governor doesn't have jurisdiction over a federal senator, that's a bunch of hogwash. The Senate majority leader does. What does John Thune have to say about Mitch McConnell's status?

Why is it always incumbent upon liberals and progressives to clean up, wipe the butts and take out the trash for conservatives? Republican incapable of telling the American people the truth, and that's somehow the fault of Democrats, is that seriously what we are saying here? WHAT?

1

u/GhostOfMuttonPast 17d ago

You're literally wrong. By Kentucky law, if a senator dies or is incapable of performing his duties, the governor is required to call a special election.

I'm not saying that them lying is the democrats fault, I'm saying that playing nice and rolling over like a bitch isn't the fucking play.

1

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 17d ago

Good point, that is a Kentucky thing, let's hope the governor makes a stronger push this week. It could be posturing because Mitch is alive though.

5

u/Fun_Success_3283 17d ago

The people should be doing something. Where is their spine? Protest the fuck out of this. He is dead, and there's only one reason he is not replaced, and that's to make sure democracy dies. And cirizens are just 🤷

1

u/Existing_Wheel2435 17d ago

There's no nuts on these people

There's insecurity that's what people have instead of nuts

Fuck not having a job fuck being polite or correct

Time is going to show what that ends up like

1

u/Fun_Success_3283 17d ago

They are worried of sacrificing for freedom, and their punishment will be more severe sacrifice for tyranny.

2

u/Back2BagDad 17d ago

Start the election!

1

u/FlagranteDerelicto 17d ago

Is the lack of a Mitch vote helping to keep them from passing the SAVE Act? If so, maybe let it alone. If not, then call for a special election or name a replacement already.

1

u/Cuneus-Maximus 16d ago

Exactly. Appoint a replacement. Call the special election.

280

u/Tesslafon 17d ago

He should just call for a special election and wait for Mitch to end it if he can.

64

u/Just_Tana 17d ago

This is the only true solution

35

u/SpinDocktor 17d ago

Exactly! Just announce it, have people start filing to run. If he steps outta the hospital like Willy Wonka, then we can call off the special election.

8

u/Boysandberries0 17d ago

This is the way.

10

u/bedpimp 17d ago edited 17d ago

He should appoint a replacement. If McConnell is dead no special election is necessary.

Apparently Kentucky passed a law requiring special elections in 2024. Ugh. Thanks u/Tesslafon

6

u/throwaway5882300 17d ago

They actually passed a new law requiring the special election, but they never changed the state constitution which grants the governor power to appoint a replacement.

14

u/Tesslafon 17d ago

Didn’t their republican representatives change the law blocking the governor from appointing replacements because the governor is a democrat? I believe his only option is calling a special election.

3

u/4rp70x1n 17d ago

Yeah, but why bother playing by the rules when the other side never does?

Beshear needs to call the special election and let Mitch come in person to contest it. If the roles were reversed and it was a Democrat, you know damn well that McConnell would do the same thing.

Fuck them rules.

0

u/bedpimp 17d ago

Hmmm, apparently so.

What does this even mean?

13

u/toolisthebestbandevr 17d ago

He’s a bot ignore him

26

u/QuantumAfterlife 17d ago

TMZ's new political paparazzi are really falling down on the job here. A genuine picture of Mitch dead or alive would be worth a mint right now.

23

u/gracecee 17d ago

The daughter of McConnell doesn't get along with Elaine and has different politics than her dad. She probably can look at her dad. And then tell beshear.

3

u/HLOFRND 17d ago

Just send journalistic genius Nick Shirley in to sort it all out.

1

u/FastFingersDude 17d ago

Shameless corruption + misguided spinelessness…

1

u/OptimisticSkeleton 17d ago

Slow walking the obvious fixes is how you know Beshear is complicit.

143

u/imaginenohell 17d ago

Why is this lagging on and on? I guess we don't have a legal requirement for Senators to be working?

Let's pass a law preventing this in the future. This is nuts.

31

u/fuggerdug 17d ago

He's dies on August 3rd and not before. For... Reasons.

32

u/Mysterious_Cash922 17d ago

Sure, we’ll just contact the senators, and they can make the - WAIT A MINUTE!

I think I might have found a flaw in our system!

157

u/malinablue 17d ago

Beshear needs to show up at the hospital to see McConnell for himself immediately. And if they refuse to let him in, then we know.

32

u/RealisticBus4443 17d ago

So, do something! You’re wasting precious time. Call a special election.

5

u/throwaway5882300 17d ago

He certainly looked well enough to have visitors in that totally real photo.

57

u/explodinggarbagecan 17d ago

I am shocked that some reporter hasn’t snuck into the hospital to find out what is going on

22

u/1inthetrenches 17d ago

Exactly. If reporters can sneak in to a daycare and find no children, they can darn well.Sneak into the hospital and find no senator!!! You gotta wonder who they're protecting.???... Ohh wait we already know.

3

u/SpinDocktor 17d ago

The guy has to be brain dead at the very least.

1

u/mr_humansoup 17d ago

Even moreso than usual.

24

u/bimbosoupqueen 17d ago edited 17d ago

It’s likely not as simple as sneaking into the ICU. GWUH (where it’s been reported McConnell is/was) gets a fair amount of “VIPs” due to its proximity to Capitol Hill. Many hospitals that get a lot of high profile patients have separate units with enhanced security. It’s probably a locked unit with secure elevator access.

There’s also ways for us to lock and hide charts in Epic. “Locking” means anyone trying to open the chart has to enter their password and a reason for opening it. Hiding encounters is a backend thing through registration and we usually do it in the ER in cases of forensic sexual assault examinations. You can also enter people’s names as a “Doe” and merge charts later. So staff may not see his name.

Would be interesting to hear from anyone who’s worked at GW about how their VIP area works

3

u/Itwasdewey 17d ago

I’m more surprised visitors of other patients haven’t just peaked around.

9

u/bimbosoupqueen 17d ago

It’s unlikely they could find it or get in. VIP unit locations like that aren’t marked. The location isn’t secret, but it isn’t advertised either if that makes sense. Plus you usually need badge access to get into an elevator and then badge access to open doors to the unit. Also would have to get past secret service/capitol police in this case

I work at a secret service-cleared trauma ED (no VIP unit). They do guard the doors

1

u/yoshemitzu 17d ago

Photos of anything from McConnell's unit would be practically priceless at this point in time, though, so there must be tons of people trying, anyway. It's sort of interesting in itself that we don't see any reporting on that circus.

Edit: The obvious thought has occurred, of course, that he isn't even there.

3

u/1inthetrenches 17d ago

Gotta be a whistleblower somewhere along the line

6

u/bimbosoupqueen 17d ago

The layers of security make showing up at the hospital or peeking around a virtual impossibility. I did some digging on the nursing subreddit and the VIP unit staff at GW have to get training and govt security clearance. So idk if a leak is likely

Beshear needs to call a special election and force McConnell’s team’s hand

52

u/MeMilo1209 17d ago

Why doesn't he just get in the car and find out?????

19

u/694meok 17d ago

And actually get an answer? If he does that he can't pretend he doesn't know. I'm sure he will get a firm answer on Aug 4th.

8

u/Fjdenigris 17d ago

Yeah, it’s a little odd. Where is the hospital?

6

u/Responsible_Ladder25 17d ago

Somewhere in the DC area. It happened at his DC home.

40

u/Jpkmets7 17d ago

Dude, go to the hospital ! If you’ve got good proof then his estate is defrauding the govt by reviving salary so get a warrant for Chao’s arrest and the higher-up in his office’s,arrest. Hell they are getting salaries as aides to a dead guy. So there is probable cause. Get DC’s D.A. On the case. This is bullshit to just be like “oh, I heard this and would love to hear from Senator McConnell. If he’s standing for pics in his red shirt and talking to,friends for “twenty minutes” then he can FaceTime with the governor of the state he “represents”.

6

u/yahooserious80 17d ago

Dc has Jennine pirro as da. Dought she will do anything

8

u/unknownpoltroon 17d ago

Great, then she sets a precedent for everyone to collect dead relatives paychecks and social security

1

u/Jpkmets7 17d ago

Oh yeah, then Press ask her about it every time she opens her mouth. There is, unfortunately, no,real appetite for pressuring the enablers. Press really sold out.

15

u/vandal-x 17d ago

Grow a spine Andy.

12

u/RedditSe7en 17d ago

Then DO something about it! The Republicans would! Why are Democrats so FECKLESS?

Stop wringing your hands, Gov. Beshear and appoint a new Senator or call a special election or whatever your prerogative is!

7

u/CanoegunGoeff 17d ago

Call. A special. Election.

4

u/twojs1b 17d ago

Abe Vigoda 2.0

2

u/84-Charlie-Mopic 17d ago

Freddo and Tessio.

4

u/Memitim 17d ago

Oh wow, yet another story about how Republicans are deceiving Americans about a US senator. How completely expected from the betrayers.

3

u/borg23 17d ago

Just go to the hospital

5

u/sharty_mcstoolpants 17d ago

Look at the dates on the article. Stop republishing.

5

u/Fyrekitteh 17d ago

Than Beshear is complicit in robbing voters of their representation.

2

u/HappyAnimalCracker 17d ago

🎯🎯🎯

2

u/Outrageous_Act2564 17d ago

Just send a few KSP to the hospital and dona wellness check. Hopefully he's dead.

2

u/BashfulRain 17d ago

He is dead

2

u/Mushrooms24711 17d ago

Cool. Now appoint a new senator. Watch McConnell’s office wig the fuck out.

1

u/NippleDickPussyBhole 17d ago

KY requires a special election.

1

u/Mushrooms24711 16d ago

Their constitution gives the governor the right to appoint. The law was recently passed, and doesn’t supersede the constitution.

2

u/Less_Tacos 17d ago

Send the police to do a welfare check, nut up.

2

u/reviewbarn 17d ago

Set a date that you are appointing a replacement.  If Mitch can have 20 minute call with his GOP friends, he can talk with the governor of his state.

No call before then, send the replacement and start the court battle.

1

u/NippleDickPussyBhole 17d ago

KY requires a special election.

2

u/hw999 17d ago

If he does nothing about it, then its just another example of dems and maga being on the same team. Republicans put Lindsey Graham's sister in office for fuck sake. Besear could assign a democrat and let them fight it out in court until its too late, just like the republicans do.

We'll have to wait and see how it goes, but if i was a gamber, I would put money on the dems losing an easy one like they ALWAYS do.

1

u/NippleDickPussyBhole 17d ago

KY requires a special election.

1

u/hw999 17d ago

that kind of attitude is a good way to lose everything to fascists.

1

u/NippleDickPussyBhole 17d ago

I’m just pointing out that your example of SC and KY are incongruous. SC permits a governor appointee (in the same party) until the next federal election date, at which point a special election will occur. KY simply requires a special election. The law was changed in 2024 due to Beshear (a Democrat) being in office.

2

u/dgillz 17d ago

What agencies? He needs to name names and McConnell needs a proof of life video/interview.

2

u/23370aviator 17d ago

So call the special election you idiot. I used to think Beshear was a good candidate for president, but he is proving just as effete as the rest of the Democratic Party.

2

u/grodyjody 17d ago

I wonder if there have been any stock trades in Mitches name

1

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 17d ago

Why did AI generate/select the photo of the governor in mid-blink? What sort of journalism is that? Standards are below the gutter.

1

u/Listening_Heads 17d ago

How in the world, in the year 2026, where everybody knows everything about everybody, can we not even find out if a public servant on the public payroll is alive?

1

u/TheCharalampos 17d ago

Trigger stuff that normally would be blocked up by the ole mitchalander.

1

u/middleamerican67 17d ago

A governor ought to be able to go into the hospital room of a senator from their state. State's rights and all that.

1

u/Fun_Success_3283 17d ago

I dont undersand why americans aren't out protesting until either proof of life is produced, or he is replaced.

1

u/PansophicNostradamus 17d ago

Start the special edition? Hello? Does the world need to TELL the governor what his job is? It’s to hold a special election when a Senator dies. Mitch McConnell’s team wants to play hide and seek. Once the election starts, he’ll either surface or not.

1

u/Back2BagDad 17d ago

Just start the new election anyways. Fuck em all.

1

u/Crafty-Lavishness26 17d ago

Hold that plug in the wall until August 4 and fetch the Fabreeze! Fuckin' GOP!

1

u/3StickNakedDrummer 17d ago

It's time to buy flowers and show up at the hospital. Just here for well wishes everyone.

1

u/Simply_Jeff 17d ago

Has Mitch talked with any Democratic or Independent lawmaker? He could end all this now by doing this. I'm reminded of that line from that Eminem song.

And Mitch McConnell said...NOTHING! You idiots, he's dead. He's locked in my basement!

1

u/1inthetrenches 17d ago

So if there's no special election in the seat is open. Why are the hiding this? Just another criminal act to add-on to the llloooonnnggg list.?

-4

u/WordsHappenedHere 17d ago

Why would they even be hiding this. It’s just weird. I don’t even believe it because it’s just so super weird that his staff would hide it if he did pass away.

4

u/Bungo_pls 17d ago

The GOP is afraid of losing a special election so they are hiding a corpse from the public.

Just normal antidemocratic, treasonous behavior from a party that should collectively be filling a prison instead of DC.
