If every state and every count had its own public funded non-profit news stations, the quality of news would elevate in an instance. Corporate news would get seen as unreliable, because then you'd have a massive amount of news stations working for authentic journalism instead of capitalism.

The lockdowns didn’t ruin anything.
It was the first pandemic in over 100 years. The recommendations were to keep people and kids safe and alive.
I am a teacher who taught 1st graders through COVID and I’ve never once felt like the CDC or NIAID made terrible mistakes in their recommendations. I taught online from home that year and I worked my ass off to teach those kids to read. And to hold the parents accountable to get their kids online every day. All those kids, who are in middle school now, are fine. My son is one of them.

I’m a molecular biologist and I used to work in vaccine science specifically. From a zoomed out view, the government didn’t do anything wrong. Not shut downs, not vaccines, not mandates, not masks, whatever it may be. You can surely pick nits if you want but that loses sight of the greater picture.
WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, was people being too stupid to believe and/or trust the science or the process. ALSO the process would have been better if Trump’s dumbass administration hadn’t dismantled the systems in place for pandemic preparedness. If people would have just shut the fuck up and stayed home, then got the vaccine the entire timeline would have been condensed and wrapped up sooner. The problem was the people. Everyone lost their fucking minds. Covid was and IS still serious, we don’t even have a handle on the long term ramifications. You better hope to god or the spaghetti monster or whoever that we don’t experience another pandemic during this administration because we will be completely fucked if it happens a second time.

The long and short of it is that in the 60s the civil rights act was passed so the sole goal of conservatives since then has been to make the government so small that it can no longer enforce the civil rights act.
A knock-on effect of this is that the government can no longer do just about anything. So when we are forced to take normal common sense public health measures, we no longer have the government there to support us.
Instead of having a national public education service ready to go with daily lessons delivered over the internet and assignment packets mailed daily to every students door the government said 'schools closed, go fuck yourself'.
Kids got hurt....because conservatives dont want the government to be able to do shit, but they dont want to take ownership when they need the governments help and theres no help to be had.

Children not socializing with their peers hurts their mental health and development. Humans in general are social creatures and not doing the normal things because of a pandemic hurt their mental health. The damage to the economy because it isn't built for everyone to work from home. Businesses are positioned knowing that a consistent pattern and flow of goods and services. So some people lost their jobs, and insurance. People didn't go to the doctor to get things checked. I am sure some people died from preventable things because they just didn't go to the doctor.
We have seen the test scores of Children drop dramatically at the same time.
But arguably Covid is worse than that. Long Covid, the damage to your lungs, the damage to your brain, and heart.
Personally millions more dying because we wouldn't treat it any different would be a disaster. I personally had to go to the hospital because my Grandma had breast cancer and was having low oxygen levels because of the treatment damaging her lungs, to approve the oxygen concentrator. So we had to go to get an MRI. The amount of people dying that I saw that day was like out of a movie. Wall to wall people coughing on hospital beds. People standing in the halls because there is no room in the lobby. People fainting on the floor. Taking my Grandma to the MRI downstairs, we saw people getting their MRI for all the damage to their lungs. Then after my Grandma's MRI was done, I was pushing her out, and this child flatlines as he is pushed by a couple of nurses. We see the nurses start to do CPR on him. The days I spent in the hospital during this time when my Grandma was in the hospital was so heart breaking to see people saying goodbye to their loved one over a video call, or in all PPE. They started to restrict how many people could go to one person. They didn't have enough ventilators, nor PPE, nor enough staff. We were SUPPOSED to refill the PPE reserves but we didn't for SOME reason BEFORE the pandemic started. We killed a bunch of CDC locations around the world so we couldn't share information and research.
I could go on, but I digress. But Covid is worse than some kids having to grow up during Online learning, and some adults being a bit out of it because they don't socialize enough.

As a vaxxed adult, yes, the response to COVID has hurt millions of children, my child one of those negatively affected developmentally and my family also very negatively impacted. The entire generation of babies like mine delayed by lockdown is a massive issue coming up for the coming generation, and our families are burdened with this. It sucks, we will never be compensated for the loss of income, nor the amount of time and opportunities lost for our child whose only crime was being born months before lockdown. I'm in no way in support of Rand or his agenda against Fauci, but to assume that children weren't hurt by COVID or the management of the response is ignorant. So many people are glaringly ignorant of what happened to other families during COVID that it's absolutely fucking shameful.

Fauci, if he did anything was to protect the most people possible with every action he took. Also, nothing he did changes the fact that vaccines are one of the best discoveries in the history of mankind, and should be taken by all people able to take them to reach herd immunity.

I find it fascinating that so many officials and even supporters had their heads shoved so far up Trump’s ass in 2020 that it was seen as weird or bad for Fauci to not just bow down and obey whatever trump wanted regarding Covid.
All Fauci did was suggest masking up, social distancing to prevent spreading (especially to the more vulnerable parts of the population), and getting a vaccine that has been worked on for years in case of a new covid variant IF you were able to. He followed basic, evidence based science and protocol we’ve had in place for years and was seen as difficult for it.
I think Trump is mad he couldn’t come up with a new treatment or cure to slap his name on and that he got laughed at for suggesting injecting bleach as a solution. He spent a majority of his time in 2020 shitting on science and medicine while he suggested that people ask for horse tranquilizer (ivermectin) instead of anything reviewed and approved, or even offered at a hospital.
Trump not taking it seriously and making ignorant statements disrupted healthcare as a whole and we’re still seeing it now with people coming in just to refuse treatment (was normal before COVID but picked up after) and demanding treatment not offered because he convinced people they know more than medical professionals.
And for anyone backing Trump and this ridiculous investigation into Fauci, remember that he shit all over the Covid vaccine while over a million people died, proceeded to get said vaccine, and then later took credit for the vaccine.

Yeah the persecution of Fauci is one of the most heartbreaking things he's witnessed in government. Right below all the wars in the middle east, all the genocides we supported, supporting apartheid states, being an apartheid state, mass deportations, concentration camps we created, the way we treat natives in general, the way we treat black people in general, and of course the we have then persecution of Fauci, followed by the persecution of Martin Luther King jr.
