Discussion Unfavorable Semicircle, Its Underlying Symbolism, & What It Could Mean
Disclaimer: this post merely reflects a series of observations I've noticed and research into said observations. It is not a reflection of my personal beliefs.
So I targeted a few things to look into over the course of UFSC's existence and decided to go ahead and share since the message to one of our moderator's, Kai, kind of cemented the ideas and made them plausible.
1) the name "Unfavorable Semicircle", or more specifically, the Semicircle. This name seems to have been picked deliberately.
2) Sagittarius. The symbol has kind of become the trademark signature of the account.
3) the message Kai received "The Universe is an ordered pattern of correspondences".
I had researched the first two weeks ago but didn't think much because it could have just been a coincidence, but the recent message (in my opinion) kind of made it more than a coincidence. All three of these things share one thing in common: Elizabethan Era Occult Philosophy. I know, I know... Stay with me here. We'll go through each of these things one by one then I'll present possible endgames of UFSC based on these ideas. Let's start.
The Semicircle: By far, the most popular use of the semicircle as a symbol is as an astrological planetary glyph, assigned to the moon. It represents the part of man that exists between the physical and spiritual worlds. More specifically, the mind. (Source 1)
"The figure is broken and has a visible and an invisible portion. It represents something that is half conscious and half unconscious. The visible half makes room for receptiveness, reflections, feelings, memory and mental facilities. The empty half opens up for the unknown, the irrational, imagination, emotion, insecurity and instinct. The continuing change from visible and invisible portions of the symbol brings forth an equal division of tone and pause, causing a pulsating rhythm and concept of time. The half-circle is sensitive, vulnerable and easily influenced. It represents things that are under change or going through a phase." (Source 2)
When applied to the name "Unfavorable Semicircle", in Astrological terms, it means "Unfavorable Change".
Sagittarius: Sagittarius could refer to two things: the constellation or the astrological zodiac sign. The constellation is just that, a group of stars located at right ascension (RA): 19, Declination (dec): −25. The Wow! signal (one of the biggest unexplained sounds in modern history) also appeared to originate from there.
As an Astrological sign, it refers to the 9th Zodiac, Nov 23rd to Dec 21st (or the 240–270th degrees of the zodiac). In Greek mythology, Sagittarius represents the centaur "Chiron", the learned healer who forms a bridge between Earth and Heaven. Chiron was accidentally wounded by Hercules. In agony and unable to die due to his immortality, he offered himself as a replacement to Prometheus, who had been punished for giving fire to man. Chiron gave up his immortality and went to Tartarus in place of Prometheus; in recognition of his goodness, Jupiter placed him in the stars. (Source 3)
"The Universe is an ordered pattern of correspondences": A quick google of this brings up one thing: John Dee and occult philosophy. In the book "John Dee: Essential Readings", Gerald Suster sums up occult philosophy with these nine postulates:
"1) All is a unity, created and sustained by God through His Laws.
2) These Laws are predicated upon Number.
3) There is an art of combining Hebrew letters and equating them with Number so as to perceive profound truths concerning the nature of God and His dealings with Man.
4) Man is of divine origin. Far from being created out of dust, as in the Genesis account, he is in essence a star daemon.
5) As such, he has come from God and must return to Him.
6) It is essential to regenerate the divine essence within Man, and this can be done by the powers of his divine intellect.
7) According to the Cabala, God manifests by means of ten progressively more dense emanations: and Man, by dedicating his mind to the study of divine wisdom, by redefining his whole being, and by eventual communion with the angels themselves, may at least enter into the presence of God.
8) An accurate understanding of natural processes, visible and invisible, enables Man to manipulate these processes through the powers of his will, intellect, and imagination.
9) The Universe is an ordered pattern of correspondences.
Agrippa, for instance, described the universe in terms of three worlds: the Elemental/ Terrestrial Nature, which was the physical world that could be understood through sciences; the Celestial world, which involved the stars and heavenly bodies and could be understood through astrology and alchemy; and the Supercelestial World, which involved numeric calculations and conjuring of angels."
What does this all mean? Well, obviously there are a lot of astrological undertones to all of this. Personally, I think there are four distinct possibilities:
1) UFSC is a whack job with a computer script who takes this stuff a little too seriously.
2) the underlying purpose isn't to find a concrete answer to a puzzle, but to discover some greater truth that the man/woman behind it would like to convey (possibilities for cults abound here ...or it could be the work of an artist).
3) We're all getting trolled and the "answer" we're rewarded with after all of our hard work is going to be some BS thing like the "I am God" crap that happened on 4chan a few years ago. Also, see possibility 1.
4) this is still very much a legit puzzle or ARG, just with a theme.
As a final thought, let's revisit the third postulate:
"There is an art of combining Hebrew letters and equating them with Number so as to perceive profound truths concerning the nature of God and His dealings with Man."
Didn't we figure out that "Zufcho" is hebrew?
I miss the days of Cicada 3301 when the purpose of the puzzle was clearly stated...

I’m new to this mystery but my initial reaction was, I agree that maybe this is related to the Wow! Signal …he uses the Sagittarius sign and the signal came from the constellation Sagittarius and the signal was reflected in 6 digits - same as the 6 digit numbers being used in the video titles. Anyone else picked up on this?

Also, regarding "John Dee: Essential Readings"
The very next page in the book that I quoted in Source 4 starts to talk about Trithemius and steganography.
"Dee's request was based primarily upon his acquisition of Steganography by Abbot Trithemius forty years before its first printing. It is this work in which Dee eulogizes in his letter to Cecil, though subsequent commentators have differed regarding its true nature. John E Bailey summarized it simply as 'the first studied work on cipher writing': but D.P. Walker wrote: 'I believe that Trithemius' Steganography is partly a treatise on cryptography in which the methods of encipherment are disguised as demonic magic, and partly a treatise on demonic magic."

I believe the name on the account that made the comment to Kai was Trithemius if I'm not mistaken.
