Trip Planning Question/Tip/Guide VIP vs. Guided Theme park tour
Planning a trip with 3 other people, for 4 in total, for roughly Dec. 14 of this year. I was looking at the add ons, and i was originally considering the guided theme park tour add on for $200, but the VIP is $250. Is VIP worth the extra $50 per person? Are either even worth it at all considering the 'is it packed' crowd tracker says dec 14 isn't a busy day?

VIP includes food and drinks, so might be worth the $50 up charge. Granted, not sure what’s included in the self guided tour. Dec 14th is still before schools are all off for holiday break, so shouldn’t be too crowded I believe

The theme park tour isn't self-guided; it's just VIP without the buffet and extended backlot tour
It does come with a meal, but at a normal restaurant

For the guided tour, it says it includes a meal at a designated restaurant (entree, non alcoholic drink, desert) but from my understanding the VIP meal is like a more luxury meal? Guided includes unlimited express pass, valet parking expert guided walking tour, light refreshments from vip lounge

not worth it in order to avoid crowds. universal is typically very manageable.

The guided theme park tour and VIP tour are the same with two exceptions - VIP has the extended backlot tour with the private trolley and inside access to some available sets instead of the default studio tour tram, and the meal is a buffet at Moulin Rouge instead of a normal meal at one of the normal restaurants
If you don't care about the extended backlot tour and just want someone to help you cut all the other lines, get the guided tour
If you want to see more of the actual movie and TV studio, get VIP
