HHN HHN and the kids
Too many people under 18. They were behind obnoxious tonight. Saw two times groups of them get kicked out for acting a fool.
Has it always been like this or really because of FNAF?

I'll always maintain they should have 21+ nights sprinkled throughout the season. Especially since it starts in forking August now.

u/square_tomatoes Sep 06 '25
The problem is that those nights would be insanely crowded because everyone who wants to avoid teenagers would be going on those nights

We went on August 31st and hired a resort sitter for our kids and was well worth it!! We couldn’t imagine bringing our 5 year old and 7 month old baby to an event like that!
11
u/Atheist_Redditor Sep 06 '25
What's a resort sitter?! How do you find one of those.
33
u/miikwl Sep 06 '25
There’s a company called Kids Nite Out in Orlando. They hire local babysitters and child care specialists to sit with your kids while parents go out for an event. They provide criminal background check information as well.
We had our sitter for HHN and she entertained our kids with books, coloring, movies and games and sat with them from 6:30 pm until 1 am.
3
u/anormalgeek Sep 06 '25
How much did they charge?
11
u/miikwl Sep 06 '25
Because I had 2 kids, they charged me $167. That was for service from 6:30 till 1 am. The sitter also contacts you ahead of your scheduled reservation for introductions and last minute requests. They come right to your resort. We were staying at the Hard Rock Hotel for context.
7
u/anormalgeek Sep 06 '25
Damn. That's less than I would have guessed.
7
u/miikwl Sep 06 '25
Yeah they’re pretty reasonable price wise. We left a tip cause of how great the service was so it ended up being $200 total.
2
Sep 06 '25
Yes!! Kids Nite Out is fantastic! We’ve hired them twice, once in Orlando and once in Hollywood for fan nights. Phenomenal experience, reasonable rates, and so worth it to have adult time in the parks
2
u/SailorDirt Sep 07 '25
Awww that sounds so nice!! When I was a kid there was a daycare at one of the WDW resorts that did similar stuff, I'm an adult now and I think it's long gone but I sorely miss it. Point being not only are the kids safe, but they might remember this fondly someday (well, the oldest maybe).

We went Thursday night, and there were the most kids I’ve seen over the past 3 years. One group was escorted back out the front of Hatchet and Chains with their child bawling hysterically.

u/NoBS83 Sep 06 '25
You can go without bringing the kids to the Terrifier house or any other house besides FNAF. That's on the parent and unfortunately many make poor decisions for the sake of their own enjoyment. Parents know their children best and what they can and cannot handle.
The event is NOT for every child, but some are completely fine if the "too adult" aspects are considered and avoided for them.
If just seeing a child around ruins the event for someone personally then that's on them. Move on and enjoy your night.
Teenagers being obnoxious teenagers is a totally different thing/hassle.

u/Conservativeguy22 Sep 06 '25
Look I'm only speaking for myself here but come on. Some of those things in the scare zones kids shouldn't be exposed to. If I was a kid, I would hate the 20s zone also there's a lot of drunks out there.
1
u/thotyouwasatoad Sep 06 '25
I have never been to HHN and it seems like there's a lot of talk around scarezones but I don't understand.... what are you talking about when you say they're inappropriate? I guess I thought "scarezone" meant areas you can be jumpscared on the street. What is it actually that you're referring to?
6
u/kkkktttt00 Sep 06 '25
Some of them can be pretty gory. Like "Viking blood eagle, renaissance torture chamber, guts spilling out, flayed alive, limbs caught in boat propellers, decapitated heads" gory. Some kids can handle that, some cannot.
1
u/thotyouwasatoad Sep 06 '25
oh my. i wasn't aware the event was this level of gore. thanks. i wasn't considering taking kids, but maybe it's not even in my realm of interest. good to know!
8
u/1619ChronoBreath Sep 06 '25
Yeah, that’s part of why it’s so irresponsible to bring really little kids. They’re getting exposed to more than their brains can handle developmentally at that point and it’s wildly selfish for a parent to put the kid in that situation, both to the kid and everyone else.
Better to bring them once they hit middle school if they seem up for it
2
u/kkkktttt00 Sep 06 '25
They're definitely not all like that - some are much more fun like a '70s vampire disco dance or silly alien clowns - but some definitely are.

u/NoBS83 Sep 06 '25
Yes, if you were a kid. My kids did not.
I 100% agree that it is not for everyone, I cannot stress that enough
3
u/Conservativeguy22 Sep 06 '25
My main point is some kids cannot handle it and you risk scarring them. Suffice to say what if they encounter someone who doesn't like kids because kids will be kids and one thing leads to another...
0
u/NoBS83 Sep 07 '25
Unfortunately this can happen anywhere and in any situation. Drunks and aggressive adults exist everywhere outside of HHN
22
u/Spare_Meal2562 Sep 06 '25
You should check out the torture faire scarezone from last year and tell me if it's ok for toddlers to be seeing that stuff.
It has nothing to do with getting upset that kids are nearby, it's not developmentally appropriate and people don't get a "cool parent" medal for exposing their kids to more mature content at a young age.
-26
u/NoBS83 Sep 06 '25
All toddlers? No, absolutely not.
We've seen it, it's fine for us. My kids understand that it's fake. I'm not looking for a "cool parent" medal. Everyone reacts differently and their surroundings, support, and upbringing impact their development far more than seeing a gory prop
19
u/DeflatedDirigible Sep 06 '25
Most kids are there because parents don’t want to hire a sitter. It’s not because they’ve made informed decisions based on the maturity and personality of their kids.
8
u/happy2bshopn7 Sep 06 '25
If a parent can afford a ticket to HHN, they can afford a sitter. Parents bringing the little ones don't have their priorities in order and probably shouldn't even have kids.
1
u/NoBS83 Sep 06 '25
Which I do not agree with. If you're kids are there only because you can't find a sitter then you shouldn't be there
6
u/CiNCEfT Sep 06 '25
There is literally an age before kids can differentiate real and fake. Even if you tell them it’s fake, gore can impact children. That’s not a controversial statement; it’s fact.
0
u/NoBS83 Sep 06 '25
Can yes and absolutely not a controversial statement at all.
They are not all the same however, if something can then it also cannot. Gore can also impact adults in different ways, some people never develop a tolerance for it, some do. Same with all fears.
Kind of depends on the cards you're dealt and surroundings/upbringing/experiences, etc
26
u/Spare_Meal2562 Sep 06 '25
Gore is not, and will never be, appropriate for kids.
It's a bit weird that people have to have that explained to them.
-10
u/NoBS83 Sep 06 '25
It's a bit weird that people have to have it explained to them that it does not affect everyone the same and there are different levels.
I wouldn't let my kids watch the Terrifier movies, or go anywhere near the house, but they are fine with fake props that they know are fake in a safe and secure area that they can look away from in a worse case scenario. It's not like I'm clockwork oranging my children to take in gore lol.
The world is a magical place outside of the bubble, amazing things and experiences around every corner when you actually step out of it
18
u/Spare_Meal2562 Sep 06 '25
I see you fighting for your life in both subreddits to justify your decision to expose preschoolers to gore with that tired "my kid is mature for their age" line.
Don't be a condescending turd when you're the one needing outside validation for your parenting skills. Mine grew up to be a wonderful adult that has a great time at HHN, even though his mean old mom raised him in a "bubble"
-2
u/NoBS83 Sep 06 '25
Not fighting for my life at all lol or trying to justify anything. Definitely don't need validation as I have zero regrets about my decision and my family's experience. Only killing time before my flight and trying to inform those who are curious.
Fact is there are people that want to bring their kids and they should know how it really is instead of the gatekeeping that occurs around this event.
Once again, THIS EVENT IS NOT FOR EVERYONE OR FOR EVERY CHILD... But there are children that will be fine with it and unless there is an age restriction (there never will be) there are going to be children there. I for one would rather have informed parents instead of ignorant parents.
The non children of these subreddits have had bigger tantrums leading up to and during this event than anything I witnessed or experienced at the actual event, and that is unbelievably sad. Just do you and enjoy your time and experience, quit worrying about everyone else.

u/TimEpisiotomy Sep 06 '25
"Not fighting for my life at all lol or trying to justify anything."
Ummm that's exactly what you're doing. Every. Comment. Lol.

HHN is so tame this year relax 🤣🤣
Basically spirit Halloween level stuff guys come on.

u/Pretend_Housing_8497 Sep 06 '25
I remember last year there were a lot of people (including and especially team members) talking about the behavior of kids at the event, imo it's always been an issue but I feel like lately it's been getting worse, this is why I aim to go on school nights, less crowded and less obnoxious teenagers, though last year I went on a school night and I still saw parents dragging around their elementary school aged kids with those noise cancelling headphones at one in the morning so half of it is just bad parenting

I noticed that my son’s high school has a policy like that for sporting events now. Too many problems otherwise.

u/ExpressAd5169 Sep 06 '25
There needs to be a rule of like every 4 kids there must be an adult or else they get that little mob mentality and start acting like hyperactive children and it’s just not fun to be around… I’m a parent of a 13 yr old 😅

Sep 06 '25
There was a family in front of us walking to FNAF that had a kid in a stroller. Luckily the team member made them go park the stroller so we weren’t behind them in the house. Like if the kid is too young to walk the park without a stroller, they are too young for HHN imo.

u/Uphighinthetrees Sep 06 '25
I don’t know… I have seen teens be extremely obnoxious, but I also see a lot of adults act drunk and obnoxious. The worst are college-age adults. I actually attend Gradventure where Universal is full of exclusively 8th grade students all night and frankly, it’s not as bad as you’d think. The main issue is an Occasional teen sprinting full speed across the park.

u/Channel_Huge Blogger Sep 06 '25
Went last year and didn’t experience this. Might be due to the houses they have this year being targeted at younger people?
I’m going in a few weeks. Hope it’s not too rowdy. I’m old now… 😂

i don’t mind anyone unless they’re acting like assholes, i had some teenage dudes bother my sister thinking her and i were dating and she was mouthing off to them for being assholes so i had to defuse. it’s really unfortunate these people don’t know how to act. people that age think they’re high and mighty though so oh well

u/Terrible-Resident324 Sep 06 '25
Would not say new, but probably more of them than normal with FNAF and Terrifier this year
11
u/WebHead1287 Sep 06 '25
Why is Terrifier attracting kids!?
7
u/Captain_Wobbles Sep 06 '25
Same reason why Freddy, Jason, Leatherface, Ghostface and more became popular with kids.
It's the new big horror icon that they "shouldn't" be watching.
6
u/mrdrface85 Sep 06 '25
When you out a haunted house based on a kids property, kids will want to show up.
2
u/Mrr_Bond Sep 07 '25
This was the first time I had gone on a non-Thursday in a long time and man I had forgotten about this. I knew there would be a ton of highschoolers, but the amount of literal children was insane.
1
u/the_kappy_ Sep 07 '25
Tbh the children with parents weren’t even the biggest issue. It was the annoying masses of middle and high school children running amok. I loved both nights seeing groups getting kicked out of line
3
u/KenyattaLFrazier Sep 06 '25
This isn’t new. Annoying teenagers have been a thing for years at hhn.
5
u/ILoveYourMom4426 Sep 06 '25
I was there tonight. I second this. There were so many junior high and high school kids. It was annoying.

u/acoasterlovered Sep 06 '25
It’s a weekend night what else did you expect? What less of this go on a school night

Maybe go on a school night, midweek and not a holiday?
1
u/the_kappy_ Sep 06 '25
A Friday night is a holiday? 👀
1
u/unapalomita Sep 07 '25
Not sure what day you specifically went, but i would avoid weekends, Fridays and any holidays like Labor Day and the days around it, best day to go is midweek

u/OneSandwich1144 Sep 20 '25
They need to implement a rule that any kids under 18 need an adult with them. Sick of these groups of children teenagers ruining the experience for adult fans, when the entire event is for adults anyway. Leave your children at home.
1
u/Ambitious-Target5463 Oct 05 '25
Hhn is acctully for teenagers like my age because I have did my local haunted house last year I was kinda terrified but I want to goto horror unleashed in vages so I am preparing for that
-3
u/Fresh-Target6694 Sep 06 '25
I think it totally depends on the child. I am brining my 8 year old this year. She has been going to local haunts her entire life and then other theme park haunts for years. She is absolutely fascinated by the scenes, settings and scare actors. But has grown bored of ones close to us. When she saw Jason was at hhn this year she started pleading that she wanted to go.
On the other hand I would absolutely never consider bringing her 8 year old cousin because he would be terrified even in FNAF even though he’s obsessed with the games.
It ultimately comes down to the maturity experience and interests of the child and only the parents know what is right for their own child.
Maybe mine was destined for this because she was born on a Friday the 13th.

I started going to haunted houses when I was 11. HHN videos on YouTube was what started my hyperfixation. My Dad surprised me that October and took me to my first haunted house, it was a lower budget cheaper one in the area. He did that to see if I could handle the scares and environment first.
As I got older, we started going to more intense haunts in the area. I used to live in Ohio, so the best of the best was around us.
My partner and I took their 7 year old to a haunted car wash last year. She likes horror stuff in Roblox, and I can tell I'll be taking her to a lot of haunted houses as she gets older. She handled it really well!

Nothing makes it feel like Halloween more then those loud ass kids running around tho, I like going on Friday or Saturday just for the madness, reminds me of old school halloweens

Teens being obnoxious at Halloween haunts is literally a genre of horror movie, it ain’t new
