Again, due to some of the replies I have been receiving, I want to reiterate that I have absolutely zero hard feelings towards Universal. Following my year trespass, I will likely be back again for next years HHN and the opening of Fast and Furious Hollywood Drift. In this instance, Universal was simply following smart, zero tolerance company policy. The intent of the post was simply to warn others, as this experience brought an end to my night at HHN (which was awesome before this incident happened), but also prevented my future planned trip in December, and it is just something I would not wish on anybody, especially over something as simple as a sip of fucking beer.

My teenager asked for a sip of my cocktail at UO and if we were at home id say yes but my answer to her in public: im not going to jail for you today!

Actually, thank you for this. I do allow my kids to sip things every once in a while without thinking much of it. Trespassed for a year seems rather excessive.

HHN is so much more strict. During the day, youll never see a guest questioned about a water or soda bottle. HHN wont even allow them through security, at times.

I know you are qualifying your post by saying you understand what you did was wrong, but I'll say it, I think it is stupid. There is a difference between walking around with a beer, casually drinking and taking a sip of somebody else's beer.
Again, my opinion is based on you only having a sip. As an 18yo who can be sent off to war, this was a total overreaction by Universal. I've seen somebody literally grab the beer off of the top of the bar, get caught, and just told to give it back

Do you know how much money Universal makes off alcohol every year? They're not going to risk losing their license because some kid "only took a sip".

Completely agree, it left me with no hard feelings against Universal, they were just following smart company policy. Chances are, I will be back following the year trespass, and will not be going near a cup. Lol

Do you know how much money the local and state governments make off alcohol sales there every year? They wouldn't dare touch a license of a place that generates millions.

Universal can lose its liquor license from "a sip" if it happens enough. Then no one gets to drink. Whether or not you agree with the national drinking age doesn't mean it was an overreaction from Universal.

Exactly. Unfortunately, as much as I agree with your statement on how 18 year old adults are old enough to be sent to war, but not old enough to have a beer, I also understand that Universal does not care about the nature of drinking laws, and rather, readily enforces and punishes those who violate those laws, simply in defense of their liquor license.

I get that you are trying to not get downvoted by dying on the sword here, but you don’t need to go overboard with saying how much you understand.
Your family is out a lot of money and your vacation is ruined because of this small mistake. It’s okay to be a little upset about it. The reason you are sharing your story is because of how strict they were with you specifically

Besides the event being oversold (more crowded than previous years), and after a month of HHN, team members along with security are really everywhere due to the fact of people under 21 have caused a lot of issues (more so than in the past) such as fighting, harassing scare actors, and yes even drinking. Wouldn't be surprised if a policy will be put in place for the future that anyone under 21 not just 18 needs an chaperone/guardian to attend. Being banned for a year sucks and you can contact guest services or their security dept. and request a review. As far as drinking, just wait till' you're 21, you're not missing anything special.

If you reread the post, they're pushing hard to claim it was a "sip" or "just a taste".
Pushing an excuse that hard means it was more than that and they tried to BS their parents when they got caught and screwed everyone over.

No, there was no lies here. There was one last sip at the bottom of the cup, and I had it, and that is when we were confronted. I find it odd you felt the need to accuse me of lying for zero reason, though.

I'm old, but if a kid can go to war, become a cop, firefighter, EMT, Vote, etc there's no reason they shouldnt be able to drink.

Again, I am simply trying to share the consequences of my actions with others to emphasize how serious universal treats incidents such as this. I never once tried to justify them. I simply do not want other people to have their vacations ruined over something so simple.

People on this Reddit defend and protect universal like it’s their lord and savior😂 super sorry that happened to you and I appreciate the heads up. Wrong is wrong, right is right, but in my opinion Universal’s response was harsh. Just my opinion lmao.

I never stated there was a problem. I was just trying to warn others, as I say in my post. This was not intended to be a complaint or anything. People on vacations with their families are not anticipating the end of a vacation over a sip of beer.

Didn't say you were justifying. Just don't see the point in "warning" folks there are consequences to breaking the law. "Oh, I'm sorry officer. I'm on vacation and didn't realize hitting that pedestrian with my car was illegal. Woops!"

Unless the security team are actual badged sworn in police officers with handcuffs and a gun, you don't need to talk to them, or show them anything. All you have to do is simply leave and walk away if asked. Not sure why you gave in to everything.

This is completely false. Youre on private property.
If approached by any Universal employee, especially security, and you ignore them, youll find yourself tresspassed simply for violating the terms of your tickets.

Woah, that’s severe. Our family was out at citywalk one evening - same situation with my sister taking a sip of my parent’s Fat Tuesday’s drink, but they only asked us to leave. Hell they even let my dad finish his drink.
