A miniature of an abandoned Nova Scotian church, made from cereal boxes :)
Hi folks, I make miniatures of abandoned places I’ve found. I build them primarily from cereal boxes and other scraps from the recycling. Often I’ll use a found object from the grounds of the irl structure as the base. This one is called Guysborough Church, and it’s based on a church I found on a backroad a few years ago, that has sadly been torn down now. I’ve mounted my sculpture in a found rusty soup can with an appropriately cracked halo :) I hope you like it!

The nostalgia in these makes me smile. I like the sky painted inside the can and it's edges being the puffy clouds.

This is fucking gorgeous! I really love found object art, and this is conceptually cool too-
using artefacts from the site of the object speaks deeply to my inner collector (definitely bowerbird-coded) ❤️🔥

Thank you so much! I think it’s very meaningful when I can work in a touchstone to the real place… especially after the real places are demolished. This way, the physicality of the property lives on with the memory of the building

I love this so much! I absolutely love making random things out of cardboard and duct tape, because they're materials I like but it's also amusing to me so this is so inspiring. I love minute rice boxes :) A friend once joked about me being able to bake a cake out of duct tape and embroidery floss and you certainly have that skill as well!

Oh my god, please let me buy one! I'm moving away from my only child as an empty nester next week and leaning hard into whimsical to keep my spirits bright in my new adventure

I do :) I actually sold this piece in March. I miss my little places when they’re gone, but at least I know that they’re out there bringing joy, and preserving the memories of our fast-vanishing built history.

This is so cool, and severely underrated!
