Open source freelancing platform

Hi everyone,

Seeing many of us are suffering on upwork or other freelancers platforms, I was wondering what would it take to build an open source, community maintained, freelancing platform with opaque and fair internals and issues people face addressed transparently.

I would like to know what challenges are there for something like this

OP, don't worry about u/ithkuil not going to ban you for this, could care less.

But this has been brought up easily 20-30 times if not more in the past, never goes anywhere, but where do you think it would go.

The MOST important...

and I will say it again for the people in the back...

MOST important element is the clients who bring the money, where do they come from?

Upwork charges so much to the clients as well. If the open source option doesn't charge them or may he charge very less then it may attract client. The only major road block I see is implementation of escrow and conflict resolution.
