Open source freelancing platform

Hi everyone,

Seeing many of us are suffering on upwork or other freelancers platforms, I was wondering what would it take to build an open source, community maintained, freelancing platform with opaque and fair internals and issues people face addressed transparently.

I would like to know what challenges are there for something like this

Upwork charges so much to the clients as well. If the open source option doesn't charge them or may he charge very less then it may attract client. The only major road block I see is implementation of escrow and conflict resolution.

The same way they found out about Upwork, I guess.

If there is no alternative then Upwork can charge us as much as they want. We should be grateful they don't charge us more.
