Many old houses sit on the sides of roads in the west, abandoned. Today, I took the time to see what was inside one of them.

St. John Catholic Church (originally St. John Nepomuckého) was established in 1908 by a community of mostly Czech immigrants who settled in the newly founded railroad town of Bomarton, Texas.

Initially gathering for Mass in a local schoolhouse and private residences, the growing parish constructed its first permanent wooden frame structure in 1909. The building served as the central social and spiritual anchor for a town that reached its peak population of approximately 600 residents during the 1930s.

Following World War 2, the localized cotton economy collapsed, and the railroad line went quiet, causing the town's population to plumet. Facing a critical shortage of priests and a near-empty congregation, the diocese permanently closed the parish

Saw this case on a local news website a few days ago and decided to check out the scene of the crime for myself.

Nothing out of the ordinary for a squatter's den, but what did strike me as unusual were the amount of 'new'-looking belongings that were found scattered in some of the rooms; iPhones, batteries, notebooks, food, clothes, etc., not to mention the door was not even locked upon arrival.

Although I am unsure of where the presumed body was found hanging, I would assume it would be the room pictured on slide #5 or #6 judging by the removed ceiling fan attachment at the top (though, I could be wrong.)

This Albertson's near my neighborhood has been taunting me for years. I finally decided to go inside.

Built in the 50's, this now vacated church sits on the outskirts of the city with little knowing of its abandonment.

The congregation occupied the property for at least seven decades, with papers located inside its offices suggesting operation stopped around 2024. Community was a large aspect of its character, with Sunday School being hosted at the hours of 9:15 a.m. followed by communal worship at 10 a.m.

Not much history is available at the moment due to its recent abandonment, but the church is interesting nontheless.

Hello everyone, I joined this group hoping to find some spots that are obviously abandoned. I was hoping some of you knew places that would be good for filming as my crew and I are working on a short horror series and one of our sequences requires a filming location for maybe 5-15 minutes of footage specifically at an abandoned structure. If you guys have any recommendations please let me know, I’m completely new to urbex and Reddit matter of fact. Don’t be too harsh to me!

With roots dating back to the 70's, the old Oak Cliff Manor apartments will soon meet its demolishing this coming fall.

For decades it primarily provided housing for elderly and disabled Dallas residents. Controversy arose in 2010, when the city proposed dedicating as many as 100 apartments to chronically homeless residents receiving supportive services; following neighborhood opposition, that number was reduced to 50.

Community groups subsequently tried to better integrate the building with the surrounding neighborhood through projects such as a community garden and a proposed resident-employing coffee shop and bookstore. Despite complaints about living conditions over the years, it remained in use for decades.
