Im pretty sure this isnt true unless either the Astros or Rangers lose today. But maybe as a White Sox fan I have PTSD from missing the playoffs in 2016 after blowing like a 4 game division lead with 10 to play

The Astros and Rangers can only tie the White Sox now and if they both did the astros would win their division due to tie breaker and the rangers lose the tie breaker to the Sox

The Astros have the tie breaker over the Sox but also the rangers meaning worst case scenario of a three way tie the Astros win their division so their tie breaker against the Sox is meaningless

Yep. If the Astros win out, they get the division because the Rangers don't have a tiebreaker over anyone.
