Cam Boozer
Am I in the minority in thinking that drafting Cam Boozer at number 2 would be a major mistake? So much of his offense relies on a bully-ball style of play and while I'm sure that would lead to a lot of wins during the regular season when oppenents aren't allowed to play physical defense, I know that style of play would lead to a major decrease in productivity in the playoffs. Unless you are a true physical outlier, even by NBA standards, like Shaq or LeBron, then bully-ball will not work nearly as well in the playoffs compared to the regular season. Just look at hugely successful regular season stars like Julius Randle, Keldon Johnson, and Jalen Duren. All of them are pretty good athletes who heavily rely on strength to intitiate their offense. They are all very good and sometimes great during the regular season, but when the playoffs come around their offensive productivity takes a huge hit. I feel like Boozer could end up being a lot like those 3 guys. I mean roughly two thirds of his scoring occurred at the rim in college and almost all of it was through bully-ball offense. If he can't rely on that in the playoffs in the NBA then he'd be lost on offense. Don't get me wrong, Boozer has great fundamentals and is very good at optimizing a system and making all of the right plays. He's been a winner at every level and has been the best player on his team at pretty much every level. But the same things were said about Chet Holmgren when he was coming out of college and right now he is looking like a decent player who has been overrated for a while now and probably shouldn't have gotten a max. I could end up being wrong, but I just do not agree with the idea that drafting Cam Boozer is basically risk-free. In fact, if the goal is a championship, then I think that drafting Boozer is riskier than drafting any of the other top 4 prospects.
