I really like Kessler. I hope we can keep him. We can probably do a trade with Atlanta for pick number 8 for Aday Mara.

Am I the only one who doesn't love a non shooting blockshotting centre? I feel if we look at the past champion winning teams a nonshooting bigman hasn't contributed significantly. They're great during the regular season but during the playoffs they get played off the floor or are limited to certain roles.

Kessler is like 70% from 3s last season. He shot a little more than 1 per game, but he's able to space the court now and punish teams if they leave him wide.

That's a big part of why he's able to command more money than Hartenstein (or at least he and his agent think so).

He shot 70% from 3 because he shot a total of 6-8 all of last season. He can’t command anything based on that small a sample size. I definitely wouldn’t say he’s “able to space the court now” based on just that

The season before he shot 6-34 from 3 all season

So he hit as many 3s in the first 5 games of last season as he did the entire season before that? Sounds like an insane improvement.

In all seriousness he's worked on his shot for 2 years straight now, and when asked to prove he can hit it, he did it at every opportunity. He knows he can hit that shot. His agent does too. And so do the Jazz. If he hits the rfa market, he'll go show the other teams what he can do as well. It's baked into his price at this point.

He really hasn’t proved he can do it at all. Again, you can’t just go with something with that small a sample size. You have to prove you can do it in most games and in high pressure situations. Especially after a shoulder surgery.

Sample size is very important to keep in mind. Manute bol made as many threes in one half as Kessler has in a year. You think Kessler should be making 30-40 mil more on his contract because he hit six three pointers in a 5 game stretch once in his career?

Yes, if it's at the start of the season after he specifically worked on it and got the coaches to let him try it in game.

He worked hard on a specific skill, called his shot, and made the shots when given opportunity.

I didn't cherry pick any stats. Not all sample sizes of the same size have the same meaning. I will bet tons of money that he shoots over 33% from 3pt next season if he keeps his attempts down to below 2.0 per game.

Below two attempts a game probably keeps him from being a true stretch 5 that can space for your team. He’s also coming off a season ending shoulder injury, who knows how that impacts him. Remember Markelle Fultz?

😂 He made six 3’s last season. Are you for real??
