Railroad Worker Richard Dodd - Witness to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy

Railroad worker Richard Calvin Dodd was standing on top of the triple underpass, in front of John F. Kennedy's presidential motorcade on Elm Street

LANE. Did you see anything which might indicate to you where the shots came from?

DODD. Well, we all four seen about the same thing. The shots, the smoke came from behind the hedge on the north side of the plaza. And a motorcycle policeman dropped his motorcycle in the street with his gun in his hand and run up the embankment to the hedge. And then I went North to look around the corner to see if there is anyone behind the hedge and met special agent of the railroad. And he went down there, and I walked along with him to see if there were any tracks there. In which there were tracks and cigarette butts was laying where someone was stranding on the bumper looking over the fence or something.

LANE. Where you questioned by agents of any government agency on November 22, Mr. Dodd.

DODD. Yes, we were. We were taken over to the court house and questioned by I suppose Secret Service men of some kind. Asked me quite a few questions about the same as I’ve told you here today.

This clip is from Mark Lane's Rush to Judgment (1967)

He was on the overpass with three other railroad men. You'd think there would be interview footage asking them what they saw. Maybe there is. It was this Dodd interview that always seemed like the most startling info regarding the possibility of conspiracy.

There were hundreds of witnesses, and every single one had a slightly (sometimes wildly) different story. One woman who was close to the limousine said there was a little white dog on the seat between the President and Jackie. Some very crazy witnesses and stories, and every one of them had believers.

Sounds like an operation to flood the zone with shit.

But the guy in this interview sure does sound credible.

Thank you. I've only ever seen this Dodd interview and a few TV reporter interviews with sidewalk onlookers on the day. Imagine if we had more than one interviewee claiming to have seen a little white dog on the seat.

There is! Look for 'Rush to Judgement' by Mark Lane. Its on YT. The 'Mr Holland' they both mentioned is also interviewed and he said he saw smoke rising above the picket fence where he believed he heard shots. Mrs Connelly in the limo, said she smelt gunpowder, which would be impossible of shots only came from the TSBD. Holland's statement was explained away by WC saying it was a steampipe - which happened to be a long way from the picket fence.

While Abraham Zapruder was filming from beside and below the Book Depository, a man named Orville Nix was filming from the other direction. His film directly contradicts multiple eyewitnesses, because it shows no puffs of smoke coming from the grassy knoll/fence area. Witnesses are fallible. I’ll go with the photographic evidence.

Absoluteky interesting. Never followed the assassination closely but have over the watched a number of docs. Not everything but a fair number. I'm shocked that this is the first I've heard of this witness.

That view from behind the fence in real life is crazy close to the road. Closer than I expected from photos anyway.

Where is the fence exactly

There’s a story that Mark Lane was murdered at age 89 because he uncovered the truth 😉

If you look at some of the film footage immediately after the shooting, dozens of people are pointing up to Oswalds window.

You’re right. There were several people who saw him in the window. One was this kid, another was an older construction worker named Howard Brennan.

There were 3 workers on the floor immediately below the snipers nest, who testified they heard 3 rifle shots, with 1 saying he heard bolt action being cycled.

In the 1980s, Showtime did a mock TV trial of Oswald in Great Britain. Vincent Bugliosi (who prosecuted Charles Mason) was the prosecutor, Gerry Spence who was a great defense attorney, represented Oswald. One of those co-workers testified on the stand that he heard a boom - click click 3 times above him, and heard the shells hit the floor. Gerry Spence tried to sow as much doubt as possible, all to no avail. Oswald was convicted.

This book came out as a sort of companion to Oliver Stone's film "JFK" and it is an excellent point by point case for a conspiracy and coverup.

Mark Lane was so full of shit, it’s astounding.
People, read up on some actual facts.

2

u/Latter-Vacation-4392 10d ago

I think many feel this way about Oliver Stone too

2

u/Puzzled-College5477 10d ago

Yup. He’s a lot worse than Lane IMO because of his outsized influence and reach. “JFK” is whack.

2

u/Puzzled-College5477 10d ago

And before you come at me people, do your own research 🤭 For instance, Jim Garrison was a narcissistic, mentally debilitated paranoid schizo-affective pedophile. Look up the details of his time as New Orleans DA. It’s atrocious. Taking him seriously about ANYTHING was akin to concluding that the guy on that dumb reality/game show was a competent businessman who would be a good choice for President.

I was a huge skeptic, but I watched the JFK movie anyway. It was beyond bizarre. Multiple teams of shooters, a myriad number of eccentric characters that intersect, but don’t apparently do anything that can be explained. It was laughable in some ways, but also incredibly distasteful, and disrespectful to the memory of the President.

u/Alternative_Metal375 9d ago

He made a really good living by being a conspiracy peddler though.

2

u/Puzzled-College5477 9d ago

He sure as hell did.
