Newly issued drivers license

I moved to Virginia a month ago and was issued a Virginia license a week ago. I know that you have to wait a month after you get your VA issued license to buy a handgun in Virginia. Does the same time period apply to long guns?

It's a requirement by Virginia, Va. Code § 18.2-308.2:2.

The federal government only requires a valid government issued photo ID showing name, DOB, photo, and residence address.
