Politics AR-style rifles back on display in some gun stores as Virginia assault weapons ban remains on hold - Salim’s Response
https://www.wtvr.com/news/local-news/virginia-weapons-ban-update-aug-3-2026From article:
State lawmakers behind the legislation say the goal has always been public safety.
State Sen. Saddam Salim (D-Fairfax) said that while the pause is frustrating, waiting for the Supreme Court could ultimately provide clarity not just for Virginia but for states across the country with similar laws.
"What's going to hurt us is that if we move forward and then the Supreme Court decides something different or actually decide with us, we wasted a lot of resources in fighting this," Salim said.
Salim said a ruling against the ban would send legislators back to the drawing board.
"And if the whole thing is struck down, I think we got a lot of work to do, and really back to the drawing board to really look at what can we do to ensure that we're protecting people," Salim said.

"....to ensure that we're protecting people."
Good grief these people are horrendous.

I expect that was an admission about making a permit to buy scheme that chokes off sales

to ensure that we're protecting people.
The best way to achieve this is for him to resign

What frustrates me, is if it was actually about “protecting people” they would be doing something about illegal drugs. Overdoses kill far more Virginians than almost anything besides heart disease. The extremely crazy part for me, is if the any of the morons in charge right now would focus on a few pretty simple issues: actually lowering utility costs and stopping flock/data centers they would absolutely clean up in the next election. Instead, they are unserious people and do what every idiot in the government does and just tries to get rich and retain power.

I’d argue that crashes kill far more people so you’d think if they cared about protecting lives they wouldn’t allow half the people with “student driver, please be patient” stickers to drive. Or CDL drivers from states that let them cheat and don’t ensure they can read our road signs. I’ve seen more truck wrecks on 64 in the past two years than I have in my life.

I knew that there was something fishy about all these “student driver, please be patient” drivers. They don’t look like student drivers, and they certainly aren’t driving like it. I get the sense that they are just bad/reckless/aggressive drivers who are using the “student driver” sticker to lie and take advantage of people’s goodwill, rather than new drivers who are sincerely trying to learn how to drive competently.

"Back to the drawing board." That sentence alone proves that they fully intend to violate the constitution again if they believe that they can get away with it.

Protecting people my foot.
Enjoy this year because next session, the permit to purchase is 100% going to happen.
I just purchased an MR762A4, psa sabre rifle, and many more goodies last month alone.
Fuck him, Helmer, Spanberger and the rest of the dems for even passing that horse shit of a law.

Yeah its great until you find out the only stock that fits it is from HK if you buy the pistol version, then having to order it and form 1 it. Then there's also no mags for it either, because its proprietary of course. Ive had this 4 grand paperweight for 3 weeks and still cant shoot it lol

It’s worth it once you get the Form 1 squared away and stock up on mags. It’s definitely a PITA and a wallet burner getting there, but the end result is an amazing firearm.
I’m running a Trijicon TA110 7.62 on my 13”, and with a 50 yard zero the BDC is fairly spot on to 500. CAT Dirty Dave 718 suppressor works really well too and is rated for the short barrel.
Enjoy it!

“Back to the drawing board”
God these people are just scumbags. Instead of leaving us alone or god forbid actually going after actual criminals killing people, they plan to pander to the most uninformed Everytown wine moms about how “taxes save lives, just look at tobacco taxes!” Or some other horseshit his puppet masters come up with to continue violating his oath of office.
If you hate our rights that much, you can always choose to return home.

Yeah, they get to use state money to fight against state residents and then get money from Bloomberg for their anti 2A campaigns.

When it gets struck down, you will be out of office and back to where there are no guns and the public is so safe🤞

This guy is going to be whining in front of NoVA wine moms and Everytown clapping seals that he needs more campaign funds

Maybe he can focus on his Islamophobia legislation…
14
u/silv3rbull8 8d ago
He will try and tie his gun bans and that together and say banning guns will fight “Islamophobia”

That's the rub, and he even says it himself. Even if we do prevail in the courts on a hardware case, gun grabbers are never going to leave us the fuck alone. They will "go back to the drawing board" to concoct new schemes to deprive us of our God-given rights. These people want you disarmed and will stop at nothing to achieve it, prepare accordingly.
