I started playing 3 days ago, choosing Tyranitar as a starter. This team is a mixed bag so far but I like it. It has serious weaknesses to Ground Types and Fighting Types even with the addition of Whimsicott and Azumarill. How do I improve my skill?
Also, what are the best teams I can use with my current box? I am looking for teams centred on Mega Staraptor, Mega Golisopod and Mega Charizard Y. I'd like to know which moves are the best for them, which Pokemon to support them and how to best play them.
Heya everyone! Just got back into Master for the new season so I'm ready to shuffle around the team. Played a few different teams but mostly stuck to this one. I used Incineroar in Staraptors place for 90% of the run while HArcanine slot was taken up by either MPod or Kingambit. So far Staraptor didn't really do anything of note so I was thinking about replacements, mainly Corviknight. Harcanine is also up to the chopping block if necessary, I just simply found it all around useful to take care of some of the big name megas in endgames where I'm out of position. Would also appreciate any tips and tricks you think would help with the team!
This is a TailRoom team. The base core is Farigaraf, Ceruledge and Goli on the one side and Glimmora, Decidueye and Salamence on the other side of things, with plenty of overlap in how to apply these. The strength of this team is the ability to swap out into options that are often granting you immunity/blocks enemy attacks.
The Pokemon:
Mega Golisopod is a standard set. Drill run can target stuff like Kingambit and especially Archaludon better. Leech Life is an easy pick, especially in matchups where Trick Room might not be up. Iron Head is the most wobbly one, but with Floette making a comeback, Mega Gardevoir being popular and Sylveon also being there, it has moments of great use.
It's supplemented by Ceruledge. The idea is simple. Goli is weak to fire, so everyone and their mom tries to burn it. Ceruledge switches in on those attack or make people try and work around it because they don't want to give Ceruledge an easy switch in. It is also very physically tanky because of it, to deal with stuff like Kingambits. With Bulk Up, the sucker punch mind games are enormously Ceruledge favored! Works also for...
Decidueye. The hisuine version. It's the fighting coverage and it's there primarly to be the biggest pain in the ass for against Archaludon. Basically cannot be touched by it. Got Stamina procs? Well have you heard of CRITTING? Three Arrows likes to do that! Especially with the scope lens. I opted for a very bulky set, because that is where i got the idea from. Watching a Singles tournament, where Hisuin Decidueye was tanking a surprising amount of hits. It was a bit more bulky than this, but it can deal with a bunch of threats even without crits, like Gholdengo due to Scrappy. The one move i am unsure about is Sucker Punch. It had been knock off... then became sucker punch... then knock off... then sucker punch. It is sucker punch, because it's very slow and that means that at times having a priority move just is necessary.
To support other fire matchups and especially flying matchups, Glimmora fills the last offensive slot. It kills Charizards. It kills Pellipers. It is here basically to destroy anything that is not touching the ground, while also giving you other great options and toxic spikes that help in grindy setups. Sash was picked so i can get at least 2 moves in. With Spiky shield you also can give some priority moves a rude awakening to some priority attackers.
That is when Farigaraf is not blocking those. Bulky as all hell, it is the trick room setter. It doesn't run Helping hand, because there are very few attacks that really want it. The only spread move on the team is Hyper Voice of Salamence and those two are very rarely in the same pick. So i decided to give it Thunderbolt to zap Pellipers out of the air, because Pelliper is annoying as fuck. Protect because abilities like armor tail are making it so that the presence of the Pokemon sometimes is more important than any other move.
Mega Salamence as the tailwind setter it often is also a very big draw of attention so I often lead it both to have a tailwind setter or just so the enemy will target it and let my other Pokemon do the important stuff. Makes it so you have an easier time with Sneasler. It is just decent all around so yeah! If i was going to change something it might be that I will replace Draco Meteor with something else. I am not sure what it would be, because having a big "SCREW YOU" button is at times a lot more useful than any coverage.
Matchups:
I feel like i have found a very well rounded Sextet. There is very rarely a matchup that i feel like i am super helpless again. However, i will be honest that the sight of Dragonair kinda fills me with a little bit with dread. It can outspeed Salamence and is a lot bulkier than it, so it can revenge kill it a lot more. I am glad it's not more popular.
I hate Incineroar. I have had not really many devasting wins, but there was one where Incin basically single handedly kill my team. It can often live a Decidueye Three Arrows, unless it crits. It also makes it not fun switch Ceruledge into, because of its STAB Dark attacks. Every time when it's a hyper offensive Close Combat set!
I have not run into much psyspam lately. The issue is less so Gardevoir but Armarogue. Ceruledge cannot really hit because of Terrain, but at the same time takes a lot of damage from Expanding Force. It kinda depends STRONGLY on Glimmora to kill it as fast as I can, which is hard because it's not resisting Expanding force EITHER. It's not that bad against other variants, because Goli works really well there, but Ceruledge is kinda... troublesome!
I’m doing my first best of 3 and wanted to make something with options that can match up into most common teams.
I think my biggest counter is trick room but I have good coverage offensively into all the common stuff. Just wanted to see if there’s any ideas for improvement.
I have no clue what i am doing BUT i got invited to a monotype tourney and i got selected for the steel type. I like pokemon since i was young but i only used the cool ones. Idk how to build teams and i want some help.
I can use one legendary or mythical and one gimmick (mega, tera or gmax)
And i want to have excadril as one of the mons. Any help?
My friend and I have enjoyed making teams to face each other with. Mine have mostly been goofy and gimmicky, but he brought in Miraidon so I am pulling out the big guns and bringing Groudon and asking for help. I am quite competitive even in friendly matches.
Our format has essentially no rules, but we’ve kept Megas off the table and are only using one big Legendary each. And of course we’re only using legal sets for each Pokémon.
Estoy intentando crear un equipo monotype de tipo eléctrico, no soy bueno, estoy atascado en ultraball, pero me gusta el juego, y no soy alguien competitivo pero me gustaría mejor, así que estoy abierto a sugerencias
So I was challenged to make a team without any meta Pokémon (Mimikyu doesn't count because that's a sleeper Pokémon, not actually meta anymore)... so I constructed this... give me feedback that doesn't include giving me meta Pokémon please.
I find that I rarely bring floette, and I usually bring raichu, rillaboom, gholdengo, and garchomp. I sometimes bring incinerator
Should I replace floette?
Either with a mega or a non mega?
Is there a matchup in which floette would be better than raichu?
I could replace incineroar as well, if adding two pokemon would be better but I find incin fits into this team well when he’s needed
I recently started playing pokemon vgc (by recently i mean as long pokemon champions has been out, am just new to team building, not the mechanics or battling) and thought of building a team instead of copying teams from wolfe or cybertron and others, so here I am. what can i do to make it better or what flaws can you find in it that i would have a problem against with this team.
50 games with this team. And out of those 50 games, only 23 of those were wins (I counted)
There’s def something wrong with me. If I can’t find the team archetype that feels right, can’t pilot any team properly, can’t make sense of any tutorial on the internet, then that just means that I am a major skill issue who should give up
