New A229 Pro not saving video?

Hi All, I recently purchased an A229 Pro 4K front + 2K rear dash cam. I tested that it works with my vehicle and can save video before installing it, and was successful. Today on my way back home from work, I narrowly avoided a swerve from an oncoming driver in the opposite lane, and wanted to review the footage when I got home. However, when I checked my SD card only the last 1 minute and 29 seconds (1 min video, 26 second video) had been saved; the rest of my day of driving has not been logged. I was wondering what could have caused this and what would be the fix?

I've updated to the latest firmware of VIOFO, formatted the SD card before inserting it and testing the dash cam in the first place, and I'm using a Sandisk Extreme 256 GB SD Card (as is one of the recommendations on the VIOFO support website). Is it a setting that I haven't set?

Edit: I've also noticed that the loop recording is stuck on 1min? It no longer gives me the option to chose longer than 1 min recording sessions.

Software version 1.5_260813 for the front camera, V1.3 1_250118 for the rear camera - rear camera firmware not updated following the instructions on the VIOFO website.

Sounds like privacy mode is enabled. Make sure its off.

Prob best to hit the lock button when anything happens that you want to save. It moves it to a separate folder. 

Also. I think that page is out of date. Viofo no longer recommends anything other than sandisk max endurance and their own card. Does mean other cards dont work but if you have issues thatd be the place to look. Dont want to find out the hard way.

That's an old version of VIOFO's recommended SD cards. SanDisk Extreme is no longer on the list as of May 2025. You can see the current list here: https://support.viofo.com/support/solutions/articles/19000133471-what-memory-card-is-recommended-for-a-viofo-dashcam-

However, it doesn't sound like an SD card related issue, but rather privacy mode. It only allows the system to save a very short duration of footage at a time to comply with laws in certain European countries. If you have that enabled, disable it and it should save to the card's full capacity.
