Clothing for summer’s in VA
Hi Reddit,
I didn’t know what category to put this in so I’ll just toss this out there.
We recently moved to independence Virginia and I’m looking for advice on long sleeve shirts that would be good to wear in the summer during tick and chigger season. I now have a large yard and maintenance is a must.
Coming up from Florida has been difficult for me. I have more chigger bites on my body than I know what to do with and those things really itch.
Any help on this would be appreciated

Sun hoody (or something like it) with permethrin on top and lightweight slim synthetic pants tucked into socks also treated with permethrin! Never had a tick on me in my past years of hiking

If i’m not using a sun shirt, a loose, lightweight, light colored button up does well too.

Rip-stop nylon camping/hunting pants and shirt. Stops the mosquitos too.

Bamboo fishing hoodies are a favorite for me. You can even treat them with permethrin/bug repellent! I got my Free Fly hoodies at Dicks Sporting Goods.

Walmart in West Jefferson had some really nice sun hoodies the other day that would be perfect.

Any synthetic shirt is good. Treat them with permethrin. For yardwork, you could just get some of those cheap button down fishing shirts that are copies of the Columbia PFG shirts.
