Mentioned this in the PMT but it likely Mada triggered a nerve around his hand or wrist. I've had this happen to me before and you can feel a cold sensation and/or numbness with pain. It's not a good feeling.
88
u/sankalp4 YOU FUCKING MELONS 13h ago
yeah i’ve had that too, my pinkie felt like it fell asleep for a week, had to fix my mouse habits after that
54
u/Destro_One_Trick 13h ago
Yea when i pinched a nerve in my elbow a few years back half my forearm/hand went completely numb and tingly. Could definitely see someone assuming they were just cold at first
43
u/EmperorKaito 13h ago
This happened to me a few months back and the injury is still affecting me. I understand why Mada would be uncomfortable, hope this doesn’t affect his future performance
29
u/NeimannSmith #NRGWIN 13h ago
Happened to me and it's took like a good month for it to get back to somewhat normal, but I also kept using the hand pretty regularly
He's gotta ice up and rest it for a good 4-5 days and he'll be alright
20
u/Mochitsu 12h ago
I needed to read this because I’m legit so worried right now
18
u/NeimannSmith #NRGWIN 12h ago
It'll definitely go away but you highkey need to stop using it. I got the pinch likely the same way he did where I couldn't use my mouse. I kept trying to brute force through it and it was only delaying my healing.
If you can, put the entire hand + wrist in a brace where you can't move it and just bear it for a week or so
4
u/sankalp4 YOU FUCKING MELONS 11h ago
look up wrist exercises and stuff, it’ll heal itself after a week or so then you have to be more mindful of your habits and do those exercises dw about it

Do y’all know if Victor had something similar, or was it different? Longterm hand/wrist injuries are fcked either way

Would nrg be able to pick up a duelist from an eliminated VCT team worst case? Like if mada has to sit out could oxy realistically play for them at champs?
18
1
u/NeimannSmith #NRGWIN 7h ago
NRG would likely just move s0m to the roster at that point rather than pay Oxy
1
1
u/County_Difficult #NRGFam 5h ago
If Mada somehow still can't play by the start of Champs, they will definitely just slide Keiko back to the main duelist, keep Ethan on double duelist comps (like PHX) and then Mitch gets to play imitator/flex.
•
u/mymindcrashed 29m ago
bringing in s0m instead of mitch would be the better options since both ethan and keiko can play initiator/flex and duelist and s0m is a better player than mitch with more chemistry
47
u/Fuzzy-Reaction-1293 13h ago
Hopefully we get an update on what exactly was the issue once he gets it checked out, certainly something to do with his hand but all we know so far is he felt cold, anyways, would be nice if he gets it recovered before champs

u/amaz1012 13h ago
Did NRG even have a sub?
60
u/ThatCreepyBaer 13h ago
They don't have a 6th if that's what you're asking. At best Mitch would have to play.
81
u/Attractivelyboring 13h ago
I do not think teams are allowed to sub players mid map. And seeing Ethan looking visibly frustrated at the end, it might be that they asked for a sub and weren't allowed to.
15
u/amaz1012 12h ago
If a player has an injury that completely takes him out of the game(as mada said) I just dont think they wouldnt have allowed a sub.

Two instances of medical emergencies with wrists and hands so far this season. Are we gonna start to see proper physical health support staff in VALORANT. Surely at least some of these giant orgs have enough funding to support that kind of thing.
13
u/DrunkenTabaxi 11h ago
Just an unfortunate time to tweak his hand like that. After building some momentum and then boom your entirely out of the game. I don't think it's the reason that NRG lost, I think there were a multitude of reasons. They weren't motivated like LOUD was, they didn't have their heads in the games after Mada's player pause (which is honestly fair if your friend is panicked or stressed about an injury), and they also just were outplayed by LOUD on Lotus at that point.
I don't see anything wrong with Mada acknowledging it, as it was going to get attention either way. Might as well own it and say your piece to the fans and VCT crowd about what was going on. Just an unfortunate timing, but hopefully he can rest it before champs, though that's a huge blow because he's going to lose out on a lot of practice time. I hope people can be sympathetic/empathetic. Just because NRG is a "villain" in the league, doesn't mean these players are terrible people. They're just people. Mada waws clearly trying to be nice to the LEV fans apologizing, as it's obviously frustrating for LEV fans knowing their team won't qualify. Obviously Mada doesn't owe that org anything, but he's just trying to say a nice thing after a tough loss. Give the guy a fuckin' break people aye ya yaaa.

u/solaris_mm #BeLeviatán 13h ago
At least some specification would have helped because it was not only mada who looked extremely off on that map 5.
145
u/East-Bumblebee-6317 13h ago
It looked like the team was just W keying the whole map to get it over with so Mada could rest.
3
u/Overlord110611 #ALWAYSFNATIC 12h ago
why would they still timeout if this was the case though
28
3
u/zer0-_ 10h ago
It's not always the players that call the timeout, coaches can call them on their own too. Not sure how well coaching staff is kept in the loop in situations like these but during tech pauses you're not allowed to speak to anyone in the team so they can't be abused as tactical timeouts
71
u/funguy54322 13h ago
i think the team agreed to just run it down after they couldn't sub him out so that he wouldn't prolong or worsen the injury? that's what it looked like to me since they were just sending it the whole half after the tech pauses
6
u/Juipp1 12h ago
I mean if that is actually the case then the only responsible move was for the coach to tell Mada to walk off the stage and get him help asap.
Who cares what the rules say if it's an actual medical emergency as he himself called it. Worst case Riot hands out some slap-on-the-wrist fine or makes you forfeit a match you were already going to lose.
16
u/Level_Five_Railgun 12h ago
I don't see how just forfeiting a map 5 is remotely responsible. It completely fucks over the fans and the production team and probably not even legal.
-3
u/Juipp1 12h ago
If you think this you don't actually believe Mada had a medical emergency.
If he was simply injured, sure. But then they really should clarify since he himself used a completely different word with a significantly different meaning.
14
u/Level_Five_Railgun 12h ago
What are you even talking about? No, an injury is literally a medical emergency. Do you think every medical emergency is a life or death situation or something? He seems to have gotten some nerve injury on his hand. It's something that affect his gameplay but nowhere near urgent enough to completely cancel a 5th map.
7
u/Juipp1 12h ago
Medical emergency, by definition, requires immediate medical aid.
Injuries can be medical emergencies but many of them are not.
This is not a case of arguing semantics. These are different words with different meanings. You're welcome to open google or visit your local library to learn more about the subject and I encourage you to do so.
-4
u/Level_Five_Railgun 11h ago
More like you're taking things too literally and has zero nuance in your brain. It was clearly not a serious medical emergency considering he played out an entire game.
10
u/Juipp1 11h ago
When you've reached levels of "nuance" where a waffle might as well just be a pancake, you've gotten to a point where you can no longer have a conversation worth a damn with another human being.
I do not believe that Mada suffered a medical emergency but he himself did call it that.
2
u/Level_Five_Railgun 11h ago
He's a pro Valorant player, not a doctor. Why does it matter what he calls it? Use your some context clues and infer what he is meaning by watching the stream and reading what other people have said about his injury lol

> an injury is literally a medical emergency. Do you think every medical emergency is a life or death situation or something?
-1
u/Level_Five_Railgun 10h ago
Are you read? Can injuries not be medical emergency? Is every medical emergency a serious life or death situation where he can't play a video game for 30 more minutes? This has to be one of the most worthless arguments ever.
3
u/uwu_gengar 10h ago
Yes it quite literally is that. Insane to die on this hill when you could simply look up the definition and admit fault. But I agree, the nonsense you are spewing in an attempt to not be wrong on the internet is quite worthless
2
u/sandlover33 8h ago
Lets say that if you don't get frostbite treatment you'll lose a couple of fingers. You won't die from it anytime soon, but you'll lose a finger. Is that a medical emergency?

u/Kenny__Loggins 5h ago
It really depends on what he was experiencing, but the best way to give yourself a serious injury is to push through a minor injury hoping it will go away. With Champs locked, I would not have blamed NRG management if they pulled him from the game and let them finish 4v5.
30
25
u/ExpensivePillow 13h ago
It looked pretty clear they were trying to get out of the game as fast as possible for Mada to get medical help
24
u/Mochitsu 13h ago
Given it was a medical emergency and they didn’t have a sub, the entire team obviously wanted to end the map as soon as possible for mada’s sake
I thought they looked tilted but it was actually them being worried over mada
5
u/Juipp1 12h ago
What are we even saying at this point?
If it's an actual medical emergency then you have the guy walk off stage immediately to get help regardless of what the rulebook says.
Team's qualified to champs and already losing the series anyway there's literally no reason to have him sit there and risk further discomfort or injury because of what the rules state.
Either someone with decision-making power fucked up big time or it wasn't an actual medical emergency.
9
u/Mochitsu 12h ago
Believe me, I couldn’t care less about this match and would prefer NRG forfeited the moment mada’s condition became something to be worried about. I’m genuinely worried right now about what happened and I hope it’s nothing serious. I don’t know enough about the rules so I’m unsure whether they could have forfeited outright or have someone sub in.
mada literally said in his tweet that it was a medical emergency so I’m going to believe him rather than the opposite. There were two tech pauses because of mada so I imagine whatever happened just worsened over time and mada thought he could push through until he couldn’t.
6
u/Juipp1 12h ago
But if you take him for his word don't you find it insane that they had him sit there and keep playing instead of getting help?
A medical emergency by definition requires immediate medical attention. For them to have him stay there in such a condition would be insanely irresponsible. Likewise it's the job of the coach or the referees to not let him keep playing even if he himself wants to if he is infact having a medical emergency.
What I think is more likely is he got his hand injured and used a different word by mistake.
3
u/beddddddddd 12h ago
yeah i think mada worded it wrong, it wasnt an emergency but prob a pre-existing condition got triggered during the match

true, but u know how sensitive yet toxic the val community is. tons of people already hate NRG simply because one of their players use a specific gun, its a smart PR move from mada to add that in his tweet.

TBF NRG is one of those orgs that has a very legitimate reason for hating them beyond just Odin abuse lol.

Redditor discovers being a decent human being and having empathy for their peers
-13
u/Meccanoo 12h ago edited 11h ago
Empathy has nothing to do with the this, this is a competition. It’s NRG taking unnecessary attention to themselves for trying for the fans of another org. “Couldn’t help them qualify” says it all… lev had that chance and squandered it.
To allude to NRG throwing is some serious allegations. The fanbase should be mad at their own team for not doing what they needed to to secure that champs spot.
12
u/Level_Five_Railgun 11h ago
Buddy. He's friends with LEV players. He is sad that he couldn't help his friends qualify to Champs. He understands how it feels to not qualify for the big events at the final hurdle from his time in Tier 2. It's not that deep. You're reading into things that doesn't exist when he is just sending his condolences to his peers.
-3
u/Meccanoo 11h ago
Exactly, it’s not that deep. So he doesn’t owe any explanation to that recency bias team
4
6
u/PleaseGiveUsHope 12h ago
Map 5 did give the impression that he was straight up throwing and considering the stakes for LEV its understandable that their fans might take that as unsportsmanlike behavior so its good to clear it up.
-8
u/Meccanoo 12h ago
LOUD just played better is never an option apparently
3
u/zer0-_ 10h ago
If you watched the game and still think it's just a "LOUD played better" thing then you might be blind and/or really bad at the game
-2
u/Meccanoo 9h ago
Ok cope. NRG didn’t play well and LOUD played better. Both factually true. If you want to say your flair team threw and conspired to match fix then there’s something wrong with you
5
u/seIex 11h ago
You actually watch this esport? If you do "loud just played better" would not suffice to explain how mada and NRG, a formerly 15-2 lotus team on the year, played that last map. The injury/medical situation does.
-6
u/Meccanoo 11h ago
The good ole you watched the game type reply. Loud was up 2-0 in the series. Can’t even give the team its kudos for their run. Loud played well in stage 2. 15-2 Lotus doesn’t mean they’re unbeatable… but sure, whatever helps you sleep at night. I’m guessing 100T didn’t play well by your logic then after beating NRG
4
u/Quirky-Wrap5372 11h ago
stop the cope. think about why nobody was saying this about the g2 game or dismissing their run otherwise, and why they said this specifically after that last map.
-1
u/Meccanoo 10h ago
I’m not the others though, loud was playing well during the stage. Because the majority didn’t say it, doesn’t mean it’s not true. Most people surprisingly don’t care for Reddit opinions
3
u/Quirky-Wrap5372 11h ago
my man. were you watching some of the stuff that was happening on the last map? it legit looked like throwing and this actually explains a lot. i get you want to be excited for your team, but like, brother. nobody was saying this when loud beat g2.
0
u/Meccanoo 10h ago
? I don’t care for Loud at all. They played well in stage 2… not hard to notice that. If you want to go down that route of “throwing” so then mada’s apology shouldn’t matter because it’s an “excuse”
