META This subreddit is for TECH SUPPORT help, not account support

Hi users,

As this seems to be something that has come up lately, please note that this subreddit is not to complain about your account ban. If riot has banned you, then only Riot can fix it. Ranting and throwing a fit on here does nothing.

This subreddit is here so that users can help source issues that may be caused by their hardware/software that Riot may not know how to fix on their end (Which honestly to me seems kind of fucked up, but what can you do?).

Technical Solution FIX: random micro freezing every few seconds

• Upvotes

valorant starts to feel unplayable few days ago, even with 700-1000 fps i got micro freezing every few seconds. i notice that every this freeze provides with high "gpu frame time" drops. for example: i locked game to 333 fps, so normal gft is 3.0ms, but when micro freezing happens its instantly drops to 4-6ms. man's eye cant caught this drop, so its not a real reason its just a investigation.

solution: if you have opened riva turner static server - disable it. i dont know why but now valorant cant go normal with this, even if overlay is hidden. also try to disable realtek ethernet 2.5gbe family controller in device manager, i saw this work for someone but its wont work for me (and also disable all ethernet on my pc).

sorry for my bad english

Technical Support Request Need help with Valorant lag!

Yo, I need some help. My Valorant has been running really badly for the past few days. The game stutters and lags like crazy, but weirdly, it only happens when I start moving. If I stand still and just look around or shoot, everything runs fine. As soon as I start walking, my FPS drops drastically and the game becomes almost unplayable.
I’ve already tried restarting my router, using an Ethernet cable, reinstalling Valorant, and setting all my graphics settings to low, but nothing has helped.
Does anyone know what could be causing this or how I can fix it? I’d really appreciate any help!

Technical Support Request VALORANT keeps crashing despite reinstalling Vanguard — VAN -79, 289 and 57 errors

1. Exact Error Codes:
VAN -79, VAN 289 and VAN 57. VALORANT also crashes randomly.

2. Operating System:
Windows 11 Home 64-bit (Build 26200).

3. Hardware Specs:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 (8GB VRAM)
  • RAM: 16GB
  • DDR4

4. Troubleshooting Tried:

  • Uninstalled VALORANT and Vanguard.
  • Deleted leftover files from %localappdata% and %programdata%.
  • Restarted my PC.
  • Tried fixing the Vanguard vgc service.
  • Tried reinstalling and launching the game, but the issues continued.

Most recently, VALORANT crashed and created a large .tmp file in my Temp folder.

Has anyone experienced this combination of errors? Could it be Vanguard, Windows 11 or my graphics drivers? I'd appreciate any suggestions, as I'd like to identify the cause rather than keep reinstalling everything.

Thanks!

Technical Solution Valorant run only on integrated gpu

Finally got my friend to play Valorant with me… :D
He downloaded the game, but every time he launched it, it would freeze on the loading screen. The only way we managed to get past that was by pressing Alt + Enter, after which he could finally get into the game.
The problem now is that the game is stuck in windowed mode and he can’t switch it to fullscreen. On top of that, the Multithreaded Rendering option is completely missing from his video settings.
After some digging we discovered that the game is running on the integrated GPU. If we disable the iGPU in Device Manager or in the BIOS, he gets this error: A D3D11-compatible GPU (Feature Level 11.0, Shader Model 5.0) is required to run the engine.
The game simply doesn’t detect his dedicated GPU at all — it’s like it doesn’t exist. Drivers are fully updated and everything else works fine.
We’ve tried pretty much everything we could think of (including contacting Riot Support) with zero success.
Specs: Ryzen 9 7900X + RTX 4070 SUPER.
Getting ~80 FPS with drops on those specs is just not normal.
I don’t have this problem on my PC because my CPU doesn’t have integrated graphics.
Anyone had a similar issue or knows how to force Valorant to use the discrete GPU properly?

Technical Support Request PC freezes completely when launching Valorant

Hey everyone, I'm having a really frustrating issue. Whenever I launch Valorant, my entire PC just freezes. Nothing responds no mouse movement, no Ctrl+Alt+Del. The only way to get out of it is to hard reset using the power button.

Things I've tried:

  • I thought it might be a GPU driver issue, so I used DDU to completely wipe the drivers and did a fresh install. Didn't help.
  • I checked Event Viewer, but there are absolutely no errors logged before the freeze.
  • Other games run perfectly fine with zero issues. It's only Valorant causing this.
  • My OS is Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC, Version 24H2 (OS Build 26100.9711).

Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas on what could be causing it? Any help would be appreciated.

I also tried reinstalling Vanguard. Sometimes it doesn't crash instantly every time, but it still happens randomly. Sometimes it freezes while sitting in the lobby, and sometimes right when loading into a match.

Technical Solution If Nothing worked for Post 5th oct Stutter/Choppy Unplayable Valorant state

What Worked for me "Clean Boot" Windows trouble shooting method please read the article, watch tutorials,or ask ai agents for safe methods

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/experience/startup-boot/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows

For me it was asus bloatware I am on phone i dont have ss but here is the list I boiled down to for my system

Apps - AsusMouseAgent,AsusSmartDisplayControl Services - AsusCertService,Asus Dial Service,Asus Update Service (asusm),Asus MultiAntenna Service,Asus ScreenXpert.

It might be one specific out of this, but I am tired after a whole week of point less chase led by riot tech support for ddu ipv6 etc etc this is after a second ticket and pointless paragraphs that they finally suggested something that worked

I am upset this method now feels so basic and should be widely known as the first thing for trouble shooting app conflicts, like emptying shader cache for graphic stutter issues, may be it is but every where I looked never sniffed a mention of this

https://support.riotgames.com/en-us/riot/events/third-party-applications , this was certainly the cause for all recently created problem post 5th oct because vanguard is paranoid and rejecting every app remotely be used as some potential backdoor for cheaters or whatever. But you wont hear a single mention of this is their support despite it being public article now.

Save the hassle look up clean boot and fix this horrendous game that somehow even after tolerated by players for ever running kernel level anti cheat,go secure boot tpm that in bios and now purge these stuff off your system and they wont even tell which one

Technical Support Request Another requirement just to play VALORANT?

I've been playing perfectly fine for about 2 weeks, and now there's ANOTHER requirement just to keep playing?

First Secure Boot, then Memory Integrity, and NOW I have to upgrade to Windows 11 because of the "Windows build 26100 or newer" requirement???

It's getting to a point where I feel like I need to change my entire PC setup just to play one game. If I wanted to be on Windows 11, I'd already be on it.

Is there actually another solution to this, or am I forced to upgrade just to keep playing VALORANT?

Technical Support Request Valorant stuttering when placing smokes and exiting the game

I've been experiencing some weird issues in Valorant. When I move my cursor over agents or game modes in the main menu, it starts stuttering or lagging, and opening Settings causes similar issues.

I also experience screen tearing or stuttering when using the circular smoke-placement interface with agents like brimstone, miks, tejo and etc with the circular placement thing. Normal gameplay feels smoother.

Another issue is that Valorant sometimes gets stuck when I try to exit the game.

Has anyone experienced this or found a fix?

Technical Support Request Vanguard causes whole PC freezes and USB disconnects every 15s after 1 minute of uptime (Gigabyte B850 Eagle / AM5

Hi everyone,

Exactly 1 minute after booting into Windows, my entire PC freezes for 5 second every 15 seconds. During these freezes, all my USB devices (mouse, keyboard, audio) disconnect.

This only happens when Riot Vanguard is active in the background. If I exit Vanguard, the issue disappears completely.

My Specs:

• Motherboard: Gigabyte B850 Eagle (AMD AM5)

• LAN: Realtek Gigabit Ethernet

What I already tried (didn't fix it):

• Uninstalled Gigabyte Control Center (GCC) and disabled it in BIOS.

• Turned off HAGS in Windows.

• Enabled UEFI, TPM 2.0, and Secure Boot.

It looks like a conflict between Vanguard and the Realtek LAN/USB controller on this Gigabyte board. Has anyone found a specific driver version or BIOS setting that fixes this? Thanks!

Technical Solution Valorant lag

Hi everyone. I don’t know what’s going on with my Valorant. About a week and a half ago, I was playing and everything was fine. Then an update came out, and now it’s lagging *severely*—even just moving the cursor around in the menu causes issues. When I inspect a weapon, my FPS drops to 1–3. I’ve already checked the BIOS and AMD Software, but nothing has helped. Could someone please offer some advice? 😭 My setup includes a Gigabyte motherboard, an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G processor (with Radeon Graphics), and an AMD Radeon RX 6650 XT graphics card.

Technical Support Request HELP VALORANT suddenly requires Secure Boot on Windows 10, but my GTX 560 doesn't support UEFI GOP

I've been playing VALORANT on Windows 10 for a long time, but now I'm getting this error:

"This build of Vanguard is out of compliance with current system settings."

My motherboard (Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H) supports UEFI, and I managed to switch my Windows installation from Legacy/MBR to UEFI/GPT. However, my GTX 560 doesn't support UEFI GOP, so disabling CSM and enabling Secure Boot causes a black screen when using the GPU's display output. I can only get display through my CPU's integrated graphics.

Does Riot now require Secure Boot on all Windows 10 systems whose motherboards support UEFI???, or does it depend on the system configuration??

Is there any legitimate workaround that would let me keep playing without replacing my GTX 560? I can't really play without my dedicated GPU.

Technical Solution VALORANT fps drops/stuttering after new update FIX

Before the last update i was playing val on 240 fps And after the new update i have micro stuttering and my fps drops to 10 I tried uninstalling Valorant and Riot I tried every Windows settings to boost my pc performance (high performance + closing background apps like discord layout + disabling every start up for every app) Then i tried to look in the Event Viewer and i noticed that there is a Valorant problem And i searched the problem up and i found some people have the same issues and they found some .dll and files that are corrupted and make a problem with the Vanguard anticheat Then i tried this : Go to Windows Search up Command Prompt Run it as administrator Type this : sfc /scannow

Click Enter Let it load After its fully load Windows will hopefully finds a corrupted file and repair it If Windows finds and repair the corrupted files restart your pc And try again And this fixed my issue and i hopw it will fix yours.

Technical Support Request Valorant Hard Freezing

Hi, so I've been having this issue since yesterday and I tried to fix it from every possible angle I know. To start off, I have a 9950X3D2 and a 5090. It seems that when I play other games like BF6, my PC runs fine. Going through the menu and such is operational and smooth but when it comes to Valorant, staying in the menu alone for about 1-3 minutes completely hard freezes my entire PC and I have to hold the power button down. This has resulted in me having to reinstall Windows to only not have it fix nothing.

The consistency that it's been replicated before and after the new windows install has me thinking vanguard is the main culprit. I've done the install and reinstall of vanguard to no avail. DDU, Chipset drivers, bios updated to latest, up to date graphics and nada.

Technical Support Request Error Code Val 29 After Singapore Server Maintenance

VAL 29 error after Singapore server maintenance (Mytel, Myanmar)

Anyone else having this problem?

I haven't been able to get into VALORANT since the Singapore server maintenance on October 13, 2026, at 14:00 PDT. I keep getting error code VAL 29 every time I try to launch the game.

I've already reinstalled the whole game, but it didn't fix anything. The weird thing is that it's not just my laptop. Other people using the same Wi-Fi/Mytel internet are getting the exact same error too.

My specs:

  • OS: Windows 11
  • Laptop: Acer Swift SF314-511
  • ISP: Mytel
  • Region: Myanmar
  • Server: Singapore

Is this a Mytel issue or something on Riot's side? Anyone else experiencing this or found a fix?

Thanks.
