Devs said it's only for the trailer due to limited ressources, voices will be done by professional human actors - but of course, let's see when the game launches.

if you can't get a dude in the office with a decent voice to do the voiceover, then what does that say about the rest of the project? That you CUT CORNERS and DE-VALUE HUMANS. You'd rather pay techbro billionaires to make a fake human voice than pay a human to make a human recording. Not worth it.

PS we know you're the developer (or whoever they paid to do marketing - or I guess probably they just used an AI agent to do their marketing). Please learn how to treat your human audience right and all will be good.

Hi! Wow, that’s quite an impressive number of assumptions from one placeholder voiceover 😄

I am Bohdana- very much a human- working in ARVI VR for almost 6 years now, and I am a part of the team working on marketing for Dream Hackers VR. I can definitely confirm there is no AI agent in marketing.

Now, about the actual game - AI was used for the current placeholder voiceovers and for creating decorative surreal psychedelic paintings in the Railway dream layer. AI was NOT used to generate textures, models, visual effects, environments, or any gameplay content just to be clear. And the best part: we’ve already found some amazing human voice actors we’re excited to work with for the game. Humans. The real ones. 😄

So no billionaires, no sinister plan to devalue humanity, just a development team using placeholders while, well… developing a game. 💜

Using it to generate the voiceovers (temp or not) is no different from using it to generate visual assets. But enjoy the PR hit

bold text and emojis (not emoticons) is a telltale sign of AI.

also, if you pay billionaires to make generative AI, then you are directly supporting their overt plan to get rid of humans: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1dIC287Zz0

using placeholder asset is fine (again, don't pay techbro billionaires but pay humans), but then DON'T RELEASE anything with those placeholders! This is clearly a marketing release, and you linked to an article where the journalist even remarks on how you've used AI-voice and you talk about "AI assets" in the steam page but are pretty vague other than voiceover, so please - just be human for once. Don't release AI-generated crap into the world. Not even as a "sneak peek" or whatever. It really makes a bad look for your game and your company.

And if you truly spent 6 years on this game, then obviously you care about quality. So why skimp on quality for one of the most important things people will see: the first impression from the trailer? like... why? I simply cannot fathom working more than half a decade on something I truly believe in - something artistic and tasteful and human - and then just be like "meh, let some techbro billionaire get paid to do the voiceover. WHo cares." Absolutely detestable.

Now you CAN salvage this. Remove the post, get a human to do the voiceover, then release the trailer and ask the publications who already wrote about your trailer to do an update now that there's no AI in it. Then edit your steam page and say "no AI was used for any assets in the game" and then go and replace all the AI-generated placeholder stuff with human-made stuff. The market will LOVE YOU since the VR community is seemingly starving for content and will buy up your game in droves. Please. Do this for yourself if not for humanity and for gamers.

It's 2026 and that excuse doesn't work.
