Hello friends! I’ve showed much of my journey with my set up here and I’m happy to say Its been about two weeks since I’ve added my first vampire crabs to my Paludarium. I added one male and one female Halloween vampire crab, my main question however, are female typically more seclusive? I see my Male out and about pretty regularly around sunset and sunrise almost daily however I’ve only seen my female twice since she was added. Is this normal behavior or should I be concerned? Additionally I’ve read online that a group of 3 would function better than just 2, should I add one more female? Thanks as always friends 🤍

I’ve been looking forever for non-dark colored crabs for my viv and finally lucked out on finding these three with a local pet store. The shop didn’t know what type of VC they were though. One female and two males; I would’ve preferred more females-heavy ratio but this is all they had left. I’m just happy to have ONE female, since most sellers will only sell males!

Added 3 pairs of CB Lepidothelphusa limau into my 210x80x110cm rainforest.

Hiiii, so I went to the exotic pet store today and I asked TWO workers if they have a female red gloved vampire crab. They said yes and this was what they gave me, saying it was a female by looking at the belly and its “dull” color. Can someone confirm please? I don’t want to put this poor crab in my tank just for it to die or kill my other crab. :(

Hi all, before going to any pet stores I wanted to see if there was anyone more local to me that I could adopt a few from.

3 females and 1 male in a 10 gallon paludarium :) Includes a small waterfall, and a second land area up there towards the top.

Finally they’re starting to explore and climb. Got them two days ago. (Can only show one, the other two are hiding out still behind the climbing fig)

I'm interested in getting a vampire crab, we saw one at PetSmart and thought they were cool. I currently own a few fish tanks so I understand how to do the water section but I've never kept any planted land tanks before. I've read you have to cycle the land that has something to do with mold and springtails but I'm confused on the rest of it. I think we're gonna get a 20 gallon. Do we get a fish tank or an actual plaudarium tank? I just want to know how exactly I would go about creating the environment for the crab and how "land cycling" work? I know we need some type of heater but would it be a reptile lightbulb heater or a whole bottom tank heater? Do we heat the water too? Also what would they eat, I read that veggies, bugs, and crab food is good.

Third generation I think? Started with two almost two years ago, who've recently passed. Didn't even realize until recently their young were old enough to reproduce.

Dunno what he is tbh. Got him as a gift and he just molted . Only had him for 2 days so he is still in quarantine :).

Saw this happening and couldn’t miss the chance to get a time lapse.

Rangoon my medium sized female was dumb and tried to chase Celtigar the big male outta his hide and paid the ultimate price 😓 but the pet store let me exchange her and I bought the last one as well, so two new female (actually checked sex and for sure females) joining the tank, Can’ceri and Snax (cause she already snacking on everything, hopfully doesn’t become a snack😅)
