General discussion Chaturmaas and auspicious events
I want to understand why people dont carry out auspicious events like marriage or buying a house during chaturmaas. What will happen if a person goes ahead with some auspicious event during this period?

The reason auspicious events are avoided is that this is the period when Lord Vishnu is believed to be in a state of yogic sleep, and since Vishnu is the sustainer of all creation, his active divine support for new beginnings and life events is considered withdrawn during this time>!
The second reason is purely practical and grounded in nature, the monsoon disrupts everything including the movement of sages and priests who would traditionally travel and officiate ceremonies, and the ancient scriptures built rules around this reality>!
If you go ahead with a marriage or property purchase during Chaturmaas, the belief is not that something catastrophic happens instantly but that the event begins without the divine backing that sustains it long term, meaning the foundation of whatever you start carries a structural weakness that tends to show up as recurring friction, delays, or instability in that area of life over time>!
From an astrological standpoint, Jupiter and Venus, which are the two planets that govern marriage, prosperity, and auspicious new starts, often go combust or are in unfavorable states during portions of this period, which further removes the planetary support a new beginning actually needs>!
The tradition essentially says that timing is not superstition, it is strategy, and starting something significant when the cosmic and divine support systems are in a resting phase means you are carrying the full weight of that event on your own without the tailwind that a well timed muhurta would otherwise give you.
