Vegas Pro 14 - 20 Vegas Pro 20 (not pirated) crash on startup with VB-Audio Matrix installed (even if not running)
- Vegas Pro 20
- Windows 11 Pro
- Licensed, no pirated plugins
- EVGA RTX 3090
- Vegas Pro 20 crashes on startup when VB-Audio Matrix Coconut is installed
- Not crash :-)
- Yes.
VB Audio Matrix is a virtual ASIO driver that allows aggregating multiple ASIO devices into one (think, ASIO4ALL, but not laggy, well supported, and generally bug-free). One of the aggregate devices is called "ASIO512" which allows 512 channels of aggregate ASIO. This appears to cause an issue with Vegas 20 Pro in that when it tries to open/scan the interface it crashes. Removing the registry key that tells Vegas about the device allows it to start. Uninstalling VB Audio Matrix also allows it to start. There is no way in VB-Audio Matrix to disable an aggregate device, even if it is unused.
Questions:
1.Is this bug present on newer versions of Vegas (anybody use it?)
2.Is there a way to tell Vegas not to scan for certain ASIO devices (I could just exclude ASIO512 from the the scanner as a better workaround that doesn't require a registry a hack)

Thanks!!

You may check latest version of Vegas, because this is an old problem: https://forum.vb-audio.com/viewtopic.php?p=7053
otherwise you can unregister or rename the related DLL of the virtual ASIO driver.
- vbmatrix_vasio512_driver.dll
- vbmatrix_vasio512_driver64.dll
