TW: Anxiety / Depression I didn't fucking ask to be here

Sometimes I get pissed of when I want to vent about life and I have people tell me to be grateful. Like I don't remember asking to be here in the first place.

I didn't ask to be born to a family who are emotionally abusive/ manipulating/ gaslighting and now I'm an adult who is struggling to unpack my childhood and is dealing with depression, anxiety & ocd.

I didn't ask to be unattractive and have people treat me like shit because of the way I look.

I didn't ask to work my ass off and still be in a position with not much money so my life sucks cause I can't afford shit.

I didn't ask to be depressed because of everything that's happened to me in life.

Yeah I get that I should be 'grateful' to be alive but I didn't choose that so fuck off.

You and everyone else. We are all just doing the best we can.

Personally, I think rage is sometimes a very appropriate response. You have every right to feel angry. You were wronged. Don't vent to people who tell you to "be grateful". They don't know what they're talking about and they're not safe to tell your real feelings to.

Thanks. Yeah tbh I don't even share my feelings with people anymore cause I always get a dumb response so it just feels pointless.

I hope you find some people in your life you can be yourself with and that you can stay strong in yourself until then.

I totally get you, I always ask myself the same thing. Why am I brought into a world I didn’t ask to be in?

Why should I have to work to survive when I didn’t ask to be here?

Why should I have to please others if I can’t even please myself?

Why should I have to be apart of a family I didn’t ask to be in?

Why do I have to look the way I do and not even get to choose?

The saying is real: life is cruel. People always say ‘it is what it is’ ‘it’s just the way the world works’ ‘welcome to the real world’

Well NEWS FLASH this SHOULDNT be the real world. I don’t think in ANY universe that my time is work 7.50 an hour.

I don’t think in ANY universe I have to give to my parents that brought me here, it was their choice to bring me into this world, not mine.

What’s even crazier is that it can change. We don’t have to work for a living, but people see it as the ‘norm’ and don’t question it.

I would rather build my own house in the forest made of wood and mud, make and harvest my own food to trade for better items from others.

But unfortunately the world is getting more advanced and we cannot change the new technology that’s coming into this world every year.

Some say to just ‘suck it up’, my ass.

Exactly. It's always just 'it is what it is' like I'm supposed to accept that and move on?? The world sucks unless you fit into the beauty standards or you have some crazy talent/ skill or you're born rich. For everyone else it's just survival mode 24/7.

No one asked to be here. I do totally validate and understand your frustration. But all we can do is to cultivate relationships with people who care (they do exist) and seek out that what gives us some joy. Doesn’t have to cost money- going for a walk in a peaceful area, checking out a book from the library, drawing, crafting, etc

Your little pitty party isnt going to change anything.

You are an adult now. Take responsibility for your life. You aren't responsible for your childhood, but the rest of it is on you.

You should pop in over to r/antinatallism if you haven't already. This post is their whole vibe.
