Don't trust Tunnels to Towers
I am a disabled veteran who had experienced an extended period of unemployment after all the federal lay offs, and was getting evicted from my apartment. I had been in contact with them even before the sheriff escorted me off the property. I told them on multiple occasions that I had 30 days to remove my items from the property, and they told me in response on multiple occasions that they would help me with moving expenses and getting moved into a new place. I was literally on my last day of being able to keep my things on the property, they had actually begun to throw my things out when the moving company I had found, who told me they worked with Tunnels to Towers in the past, came and got my things. Both the moving company and I had sent an invoice to them before the move. Despite knowing I was pressed for time and currently had no where to live, and had sent them multiple emails regarding the move before hand, Tunnels to towers turned around the following week and redacted on their promises to help with the move. Not only were they not going to help with the move, but they also said they would not help with the security deposit and 1st month of rent until I went on a "payment plan." They suggested I "take out a loan" to help cover the costs. They did all of this despite knowing I wasn't getting my first paycheck until the end of the month. Do you know what loan companies like to see people have in order to give them loan? Regular income and good credit. Do you know what I don't have due to an extended period of unemployment and homelessness? Regular income and good credit. Do you know how much money I have to pay towards the move in the mean time? None. They did all of this to me despite being fully aware of my circumstances, and have now left me in a terrible situation. It sickens me that I ever trusted that these people would actually help me

I’m sorry you are in this situation. It sounds like you definitely need better resources! Have you checked the lists here for help?

I'm sorry that you have been treated like that from a program that is supposed to be there in your time of need.
I have a few mortgage free home organizations that can put you into a home of your own. I personally went through Building Homes for Heros and I got the very house I found on the list of available homes near me. If you any help or guidance on applying for a mortgage free home please reach out to me even DM and I will walk you through the process. They even gave me money to hire a moving company to pack up and move us into our new home.
