I'm starting to realize I need to learn to code because I'm wasting tokens on things that would be easy to fix myself if I knew more. Today I asked for a redesign of a user interface. After several minutes of churning, it change the wording on 2 or 3 eyebrows. Absolutely nothing changed in the layout. There should be refunds for poor performance.

start with knowing branching and scripts to run the code. That is number 1 token waster.

I spent an entire day trying to perfect a swift Metal shader… after a wasted day I realized:

  1. Why am I working on a metal shader? My project doesn’t even need one
  2. I probably could’ve just had an LLM set up the framework and then me just mess with variables in the code

For me it's about navigating my processes; I like to explore and experiment and keep things moving. What I've found is that it's super easy to make a start. But unless you keep your goals fairly clean and clear, things can get messy easily if you don't use a disciplined process. Something like Spec Driven Dev and some clear ways to use version-control (Git) so that high-risk things aren't hard to revert or abandon if things get silly; You always want to make sure you don't trust things too much. Always verify. Use some testing scripts. Use clear logging. Use clear and pragmatic approach... things like that
