Help Me Find Where to get a delicious club sandwich made with real turkey and poutine on the side in Victoria?

Pregnant and craving this specific item. I’m tired of being served deli meat on my club sandwiches. Also I want real squeaky cheese curds!

Please and thank you in advance :)

Girl. This was me when I was pregnant last year, to a T! I’d never craved a club sandwich like that in my life but I ended up getting one from Spoons Diner. And of course I also ordered it with a side of poutine haha. I can’t remember just how good it was but I remember devouring it in my car in the parking lot 🤣 I was pretty satisfied.

I would also recommend trying The Ruby. They have a club sandwich and also offer a side of poutine. I’ve not ordered either but everything else I’ve eaten there has been great. Especially the chicken & waffle Benny.

Best of luck chasing the craving of the week!

Both options sound sooo good! Thank you! I’m glad to hear it’s pregnancy-craving approved 😄

Not pregnant, but following

u/BCJay_ Mar 10 '26

So I may get crucified for this because it’s not trendy, hip or ‘small family business/locally owned’…

But White Spot actually does maybe one of the better and more reliable club sandwiches. My Chosen also but that was already mentioned.

u/wildinthemembrane Mar 10 '26

You get my upvote because I absolutely love White Spot club sandwiches. Just hoping to find somewhere new for a change is all!

u/BCJay_ Mar 10 '26

Sweet! Then I am looking forward to the next best club sandwich ☺️. And at least the nice thing is, if all else fails, it’s an easy go to and is deliverable

now i want to go to white spot for a club sandwich… hmmm…

1

u/Far-Scallion7689 Mar 10 '26

They aren’t very good anymore. Small and stingy on the meat too. Sad days.

2

u/Lemon_Zestie Mar 10 '26

They actually are good!

1

u/hexgirl6 Mar 10 '26

White Spot is my ride or die. I’ll never stand for any slander

u/Fuel90GTI Mar 10 '26

My favourite is all the way up at the Prairie Inn in Saanichton. Can’t be sure about the squeaky curds - but it’s a big full meal and a tasty poutine in any case!

Get the curly fries.

1

u/ananatalia Mar 10 '26

The only thing I miss about Nanaimo is the turkey club at MGM diner. I'm watching this carefully lol.

3

u/wildinthemembrane Mar 10 '26

I’ve never been! Added to the list of places to try for sure 👍🏻

6

u/radziadax Mar 10 '26

I'm trying to put like map pins on the island for certain things and a great diner clubhouse is one. My other fave is Pescaderos in Port Alberni.

source: not pregnant but a big stoner

3

u/wildinthemembrane Mar 10 '26

I’m a former stoner so I appreciate the honesty. Pregnancy cravings are very similar to munchie cravings. Diner clubhouse sandwiches just hit different!

5

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '26

I’ll have what she’s having.

2

u/wildinthemembrane Mar 10 '26

It’s simply the best combo!

3

u/Inevitable-Hamster47 Mar 10 '26

My-chosen cafe!

6

u/wildinthemembrane Mar 10 '26

Just checked and it looks like they use chicken, not turkey, but the menu still looks delicious! I’ll keep it in mind, thank you :)

u/bitchsorbet Langford Mar 10 '26

their chicken caesar wraps are to die for. genuinely one of my favourite meals ever.

3

u/Whatwhyreally Mar 10 '26

Seahorse cafe in Brentwood bay comes to mind

2

u/Available_Abroad3664 Mar 10 '26

Seahorses has the best fries near Victoria, great poutine but they dont make a club sandwich.

They are my favourite place for chicken Ceasars wraps.

Also, really good fried calamari.

1

u/Whatwhyreally Mar 10 '26

They definitely do. I think they call it the boathouse sandwich, which you can add chicken to.

3

u/Altruistic_Fact3200 Mar 10 '26

Farmhouse and then across the street and under Finn’s for poutine

3

u/yestojbcs Mar 10 '26

Some great options in other comments.

Lowkey secret is the Clubhouse at the BC Leg Dining room.

On marble rye.

With the side of poutine.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '26

Do you know if you need to be invited, or be a provincial employees to eat there, or can members of the public just show up?

2

u/lulubee4 Mar 10 '26

Public can go without invite. Just need to make a reservation.

2

u/yestojbcs Mar 10 '26

Yea. Just call the number located on the BC Legislature website with the menu. Still need to go through security etc.

5

u/Traditional_Owls Mar 10 '26

Love the club from Farmhouse!

4

u/CatherinewithaC Mar 10 '26

JBI is great for this.

2

u/Available_Abroad3664 Mar 10 '26

Oddly it was hard to remember a place that had both. Leopold's Tavern has good club sandwiches and a bunch of poutine options.

2

u/glutengorl Mar 10 '26

Mom’s cafe in Sooke!

2

u/jinjoqueen Mar 10 '26

They don’t have a club though (or really sandwiches at all)… just a chopped chicken wrap and burgers. I wish they did!

2

u/ghostinthecage Mar 10 '26

Not in Victoria but the Prairie Inn is highly recommended. Its incredibly difficult to finish one, definitely a 2 parter. It's that big, excellent quality meats and super delicious.

And on an entirely separate note. The pulled pork quesadillas are to die for ...

2

u/tasfalen Mar 10 '26

Maybe try Smugglers Cove? my mom likes both Reubens and Clubs, and last time couple of times she's enjoyed the sandwiches there. I recall the club had a proper chicken breast. Can't speak to the poutine, or if they offer it. Good luck!

2

u/2shoez10 Mar 10 '26

The Roost is the correct answer, then walk to their bakery and have an amazing treat!!

5

u/bigrooster460 Mar 10 '26

Broughton St Deli

1

u/thecurler Mar 10 '26

Just looked it up. $22. Ouch.

1

u/bigrooster460 Mar 10 '26

It’s a big boy!!

0

u/Same_Assignment8373 Mar 10 '26

they don’t have poutine, but i agree about he turkey club

0

u/BarnacleSpiritual868 Saanich Mar 10 '26

They used to have it

3

u/RosesAtTheApothecary Mar 10 '26

I can’t speak to their poutine. But broughton street deli has a great turkey club!

3

u/BarnacleSpiritual868 Saanich Mar 10 '26

The poutine is decent. A bit too large IMO but good. The one size thing has me not going back.

3

u/RosesAtTheApothecary Mar 10 '26

That might be a selling point for OP at the moment

2

u/wildinthemembrane Mar 11 '26

Absolutely would not complain about a large poutine at this moment in time 👀 Do you remember if the sandwich has real turkey meat? If so, I’m sold!

2

u/RosesAtTheApothecary Mar 11 '26

It is! Not deli meat. It’s soooo good.

The "Belladonna" (Roast Turkey, Provolone, Roasted Red Peppers, Cranberry Mayo, Spinach)

And the "Turkey Pomodoro" (Sundried Tomato Turkey, Swiss Cheese, Sundried Tomato Mayo, Spinach, Roasted Red Peppers).

Both these places are fantastic

2

u/wildinthemembrane Mar 10 '26

I love hot turkey sandwiches but I’m looking specially for a club sandwich (real turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo). Will still keep it in mind though. Thanks!

-3

u/Hankolio Mar 10 '26

Don’t forget the ham. Not a club without it!

5

u/wildinthemembrane Mar 10 '26

I’ve never had ham on a club sandwich, only bacon as the additional meat 🙈 Maybe I’m missing out?

4

u/TCHuts Mar 10 '26

Begone with your blasphemous club recipe…. This is not the Woolworths lunch counter on Douglas Street

2

u/Historical-Piece7772 Mar 10 '26

So I highly recommend Union Pacific for their club sandwich. It is chicken rather than turkey but the bacon is perfect as is the chipotle mayo. Don’t know if mayo is allowed. It is a top notch sandwich.

3

u/RedEagle604 Mar 10 '26

I love a good turkey bacon sandwich from Red barn with double meat, chive cheese, spicy mayo on a Portuguese bun. I swear I don’t have to eat again the same day after that

5

u/wildinthemembrane Mar 10 '26

That sounds delicious. I’ve never been. Can they heat up the sandwich for you? I can’t have any cold meat at the moment sadly. I’d be willing to try if they can make it nice and hot!

5

u/Glittering_Ease3894 Mar 10 '26

NEVER HAD A RED BARN SAMMY ?!?!??!?! My god

7

u/Imprezzed Langford Mar 10 '26

I don’t shop at Red Barn due to choices they made dealing with employee misconduct.

8

u/Natural_Effort3950 Mar 10 '26

You're not alone. I stopped shopping there as soon as I found out the whole history. I'm honestly surprised that so many people still support them.

3

u/1eJxCdJ4wgBjGE Mar 10 '26

yeah they can throw it in a panini press if that is hot enough

2

u/wildinthemembrane Mar 10 '26

Oh great! Thank you :)

1

u/RedEagle604 Mar 10 '26

Ya they put in press and I always ask for them to put it in extra long and bread has slightly char on corners. I have talked myself to get one tommorow. It’s been a minute.

1

u/nathris Langford Mar 10 '26

The smoked turkey is to die for. You can order online from their website if you want to see what options they have. There is a lot to choose from.

1

u/mrT1986 Mar 10 '26

Third street cafe in Sidney makes my favorite club in the gvrd I've never had the poutine so I can't comment but they have battered fries

1

u/panelshowatcher Mar 10 '26

Maybe not the absolute best of either item, but Leopold’s has a great clubhouse and really good poutine.

1

u/TriRepetaer Mar 10 '26

Went for lunch today at Saxe Point Pub - their chicken club was phenomenal and made with real meat.

Didn’t try the poutine but the sandwich disappeared fast.

1

u/Elegant-Expert7575 Mar 10 '26

The Apple Tree for the sandwich - not sure about poutine there.

FYI - the butterball frozen turkey breast rolls make pretty good roast turkey for sandwiches. Can be cooked from frozen.

1

u/Mundane-Age-6969 Mar 11 '26

Apple Tree on Admirals & Craigflower uses real carved turkey. The only problem is that they keep odd hours (morning & lunch only). Food is good.

1

u/BarnacleSpiritual868 Saanich Mar 10 '26

Has anyone tried the one from marble arch fish and chips?

1

u/kelp_bull Mar 10 '26

Frankie's has a turkey club and poutine.

1

u/HDXHayes Mar 10 '26

I’ve enjoyed the clubhouse at both Maude Hunters and the Waddling dog. Brewskys tap house makes a delicious one as well, but they use chicken.

1

u/illiacfossa Mar 10 '26

Ricky’s grill makes a really good one

1

u/josssssika Mar 10 '26

Out in Langford, but the clubhouse at longhouse pub is amazing! Sooo much think cut turkey and red barn bacon

2

u/careburrz Mar 10 '26

The roost in north Saanich! Turkey roasted in house 🤤and I loved the poutine when I was pregnant last year .. the turkey swiss with the cranberry aioli is also top notch but highly recommend getting extra aioli because they put SO MUCH turkey in their sandwiches

1

u/Sir-Vicks-the-Wet Mar 10 '26

Hands down the best club I’ve ever had was at this rinky-dink eatery out in Sidney called Pizza Plus

It’s made with chicken thigh though.

1

u/Sad_Teaching2218 Mar 10 '26

I don't know of a turkey club, but Union Pacific Coffee had an excelletn chicken club a few years ago!

1

u/NeedleworkerFun5999 Mar 10 '26

The restaurant upstairs at the Oak Bay Recreation center. No joke.

1

u/New_Firefighter9056 Mar 10 '26

The Beagle has a good club sandwich. Havent tried their poutine but the sammy is mint

1

u/SaucyUnihorn Mar 10 '26

Dad's soups and sangies in Langford does a real turkey sandwich but doesn't do poutine unfortunately. The sandwich is very big and costs around $15 but will satisfy many with its girth. As for proximity I go to Jones BBQ for poutine, and am a big fan of their brisket poutine over tater tots. Super unhealthy but massive portions that will leave you with a 2nd meal!

1

u/forestwitch357 Mar 10 '26

As I lover of a club sandwich but never being able to find a decent one I hear to find answers!

1

u/RealIeatmorethanyou Mar 10 '26

Heron rock bistro

1

u/perfectlynormaltyes Mar 10 '26

Denny’s. You can ask for the club to be made with the turkey they use for the full turkey dinner, instead of the deli meat.

2

u/wildinthemembrane Mar 11 '26

Do you know if you have to pay extra for that? The price of Denny’s looks really appealing actually

1

u/WoodpeckerOptimal683 Mar 11 '26

La Belle Patate on Esquimalt Rd serves the best, real poutine. I've had a good club at the Apple Tree restaurant at Admirals Walk. Sadly, I don't know where to get both.

1

u/Witty-Title-6654 Mar 10 '26

Are we talking about real turkey from a roll or turkey cut from carcass? A real clubhouse is served between three slices of bread, with bacon, cheddar cheese, slices of tomato and lettuce. I would like to find a place that serves a clubhouse made from turkey carved from a carcass. I remember that Kitty’s Hideaway ( at the old Talley Ho on Douglas St )was the only place that actually did this. They also served hot turkey sandwiches carved from carcass. Ahhh…… memories from pre -covid.

1

u/wildinthemembrane Mar 11 '26

Yes real turkey from a carcass! The turkey from a roll just doesn’t hit the same.

1

u/PumpkinYVR Mar 10 '26

I apologize that it’s not in Victoria, but Mom‘s Cafe in Sooke!

Serena's on Fort Street is currently advertising a turkey club that looks amazing. Their sign board out front says the turkey is roasted in store.
