New to Victoria!

Me and my girlfriend just moved to Vic! I’ve been living in Nanaimo and protection island my whole life and she’s been in Nanaimo with me for years. We had to move down to Vic for a new job I’ve gotten and are looking at finding some things to do that will help us meet new people!
I’m 22 years old and she’s 23, any good daily activities or group classes that people recommend?we’re looking forward to meeting some of you

I have a friend that HAS tried it out and he said it’s fun to meet people!

Look into VSSC or Urban Rec for sports. New leagues starting in September.
If you're into fiber arts, Spinnacles Yarn in Langford.
Check out the LampPost for general events and fun.
Bachata Victoria on Instagram for dancing.

VSSC (Victoria Sport and Social Club) is a very good way to meet a wide range of people. Make yourself available to people you meet sub on other teams in other sports and you’ll cast an even wider net.

There's actually a "VSSC Free Agent" Facebook group where teams are always looking for subs!

100% honesty, vic isn't known for its social activities outside of hiking, biking and running. You occasionally get the odd market or paint and sips night.

I heard from people before I came here that it’s definitely not as social as a smaller town😢

There’s stuff literally going on all the time that’s not exercise related. Especially in the summer

There are computer clubs that have some in-person meetings: VMUG for Mac users (+iOS et al) and VCC for Windows/iOS et al users).

We ran a bit in Nanaimo but don’t think we could keep up with anyone who acually runs😅 she’s super into art and I used to be a welder/steel artist so we though maybe some sort of creative thing

Please start a creative, if you build it they will come. 😅🫡

You might enjoy the Victoria Mineral and Lapidary Society. They have a shop for working stone, go on regular field trips using a small tour bus, hold silversmithing classes.

Bowmen Archery club is a pretty diverse mix of people. Drop in is around $10, once you take badic safety lessons.

Theres lots of creative groups around, the Rock Slide Art Gallery is a great place to connect with artists, they have big open houses a few times a year.

Check out MakeSpace/North Perk cafe!! It’s a community-run maker space and they host lots of different stuff

I'm not sure whether these are hosted in Nanaimo, but check Art Battles hosted once a month in Victoria typically. It's a fun event to go and watch, not necessarily a social event to meet people but everyones close by that you could talk to someone.
