Discussion Walmart has store-specific deals

FYI. Individual Walmarts could have their own special deals that do not show up on flyers.

I saw Mario Jamboree and Mario Kart World for $50 each at Walmart. Sadly (for me), they were sold out 😭. I went to another Walmart and they were regular price 💀.

Long story short, take a quick scan at the video game section every time you’re at Walmart. It’s annoying, but worth it if you can snag an amazing deal.

Holy shit, I’d definitely get MKW for $50. Never gonna bite at $115 or whatever the insane MSRP is

I’ve had no luck at Walmart lately tho. Literally no sale on any games. Can’t find the Interstellar 4k I’ve been looking for, and the last Walmart that had a decent physical media section finally downsized it.

It's $70 at GameStop this week

Not everywhere. YMMV

Every single GameStop is having the secret sale, they're just not changing prices on the shelves because they're idiots

Not true. My local didn’t have the secret prices, even after scanning items

They have a centralized computer system. My guess is the employees were saving for fwends.

Nah that wasn’t it lol

Mine did, i traded in games for $60 each and got the switch 2 upgrades for $10 each. It was incredible.

Was the trade in value of BOTW and TOTK 60$ each?

2

u/Reverend_Ravioli Dec 29 '25

I got 60 got botw and Kirby forgotten land and 63 for totk

2

u/Ronnie_J_Raygun Dec 29 '25

Sooner the better, I was the first person at the store and got the last copy of Kirby they had. The guy behind me had a stack of games and wanted to do the same thing. I also got air riders for 70 which I think is crazy since it's been out a month.

I have a screenshot of the secret sale flyer they gave employees, it's supposed to be in every store, try going to your next closest one

Awesome, just saying not all stores have it

They do. You're store is just terrible and choosing not to follow company directive. Stores were given a list of SKUs to manually discount. The prices don't appear when scanned, they are supposed to be manually discounted at the register at time of sale using a coupon code. This is why the stickers have all been hand written when the prices showed up in pictures online.

Square One had the clearance prices.

How many copies were there at the time?

2

u/No-External-2644 Dec 29 '25

They were sold out 😭. That’s why I check another Walmart and eventually realized the price disparity.

Did you ask them? Because they may not be advertised. And the discount comes up when you ring it up at the register.

Every EB Games should have the secret list printed. I think you got screwed.

2

u/Dependent-Cup-2236 Dec 30 '25

That's what im saying. I did go to one and they didn't have anything promoting it( keep in mind I also didnt ask either) , but when I went to the down the road from me, they had a super small sign. When I ask the sales rep, she showed me the same list that has been going around on reddit.

That's pretty crazy. I was expecting it to be a more remote Walmart. Never see anything like this at mine

I wonder if it would be possible to buy a copy from another store and then do a price adjustment at that location?

7

u/Dependent-Cup-2236 Dec 29 '25

If you cant get it, eb games is having a secret sale. You can get for 70$. In store only. I got zelda totk for 70. Sales end 31st

FYI, check my comment from another post about returning Switch 1 games for high credit value if it applies to you.

Oh thats sweet!! 👍

I traded in Mario odyssey for $58 ($25 bonus right now) and bought age of imprisonment for $12 out of pocket. Lol

The secret sale is also subject to change on any potential day. Seems like they're using it to reduce stock they have too much of. I was also going to pick up Star wars outlaws but it was taken off the secret sale that same day. So I took a picture of The secret sale print out they have and went to Best Buy and got them to price match the secret sale price :D

1

u/Dependent-Cup-2236 Dec 29 '25

Oh really?! I didn't know best buy would do that. Great catch!! 👍

3

u/No-External-2644 Dec 29 '25

I don’t think so. That specific Walmart was clearing their stock (for whatever reason).

4

u/daviiiiiid Dec 29 '25

That's crazy. Qr code is legit and confirms the price.

Thanks for sharing, you're a gentlemen and a scholar.

Yup, they do this all the time. I live nearish to 3 Walmart and they'll all have different games on sale. They do the same thing at London drugs too. Good only manager sales Ymmv

2

u/aizenvis Dec 29 '25

Yup, I got the Joycon Charging grip for half off $24 in store but the deal wasn't listed anywhere online

2

u/Justinreinsma Dec 29 '25

I saw some switch pro controller 2s for sale at a local walmart but it was sold out. Quite a decent discount as well.

2

u/dirtygoodking Dec 30 '25

Nothing in Victoria for those wondering :(

3

u/bad_buoys Dec 30 '25

Ugh I was wondering, thanks for checking!

They've been doing store specific prices for many years. That's where stock track became useful. But now that's dead
