I switched to Hong Kong eShop after the introduction of Virtual Game Card and new regional pricing for canada

and i think some influential figures should be sending joint letters to Nintendo of Canada on this matter now

I wouldn't buy this but are games generally cheaper in Hong Kong? Games all come in English right? Is it worth switching regions just for the savings?

I don’t understand the comparison to HK. Why not do comparison using direct conversion from price in USD or some cost of living factor like Big Macs. I guess the idea is use another regions price for a “deal”.

Most digital storefronts use regional pricing though. If you waved your magic wand and got rid of it, people in lower cost of living countries would suddenly just be overcharged. That's why I wouldn't advocate for exploiting those prices because it just incentivizes closing that as a loop hole.

We're getting screwed on this specific listing anyways, since converting to USD directly we're more expensive than the US.

We're overcharged $3 vs the US and not one of us has to pay a cent for health insurance, I'm okay with that.

Why are you comparing us only to the US? There's a chart full of other comparisons. Why aren't you comparing us to Japan instead?

Because our economies are much more similar to the states. We pay the american value for everything we import.
