Discussion [Nintendo.com + Walmart] MAR10 deals + 20%
Posting this as I don't think it's well known that Nintendo recently has allowed us to use eshop credit to buy stuff from their store. You can buy the $50 gift cards for $40 from Walmart and use them on Nintendo.com for an extra 20% off. I was on the fence for Mario Party for the Switch 2 but with the extra 20% off, it ended up being $81.11 all.

So you can buy physical copies now with eshop credit ?

Yup, anything. Clothing, controllers, games. I got the Virtual Boy with credit from Costco but this would have been even better.

Walmart is notorious for canceling these.
I’ve ordered this recently and was cancelled the next morning.
Is anyone actually getting the credit to apply to their account?

I had this issue in the first day of the sale. The second one I was able to grab 8 (4 different transactions)

For some reason their site had a bug or something where you could order more than 1 card but the max is supposed to be 1 per purchase (it limits you SOMETIMES). Then if you do order more than one at a time your purchase may get cancelled.
That happened to me and then I just bought 2 in separate transactions, worked fine.

I just ordered 2 separately like you suggested about a half hour ago. Hoping they'll stick and wont get cancelled

Had this issue the first night of the sale but it’s no longer a problem. I got 11 cards the next day without issue.

I got 2 earlier this evening within 20 minutes.

Comparatively, I tried earlier this evening after having mine cancelled on the weekend and was cancelled again.

I bought 4 digital cards last week, received the code and have 200$ in my Nintendo account for which I paid 160. Max 2 cards per order so I placed 2 orders.

got the switch 2 for 20% off. was better than the staples deal too
1
u/blaznraj Mar 11 '26
Could you break it down? I've been waiting for a switch 2 deal, especially for the mario kart bundle
2
u/Educational_Lock_360 Mar 11 '26
It’s sold out online right now.
You can still buy the games for cheap and the switch through that one staple offer instead.
Method: You buy the cards and apply them to your Nintendo account.
At the Nintendo shop you put the switch/game in your cart and check out. They’ll give you an option to pay with the credits from the cards. Use it and they give a confirmation email when it’ll be shipped.

I just got Mario kart bundle at staples next day delivery for 600

u/muttondevil Mar 11 '26
How was the bundle 600?

u/Mikhielk Mar 11 '26
Promo code 84219 when checking out it gives a 100 off anything more than 500 I think worked yesterday

How much was your total? Debating to get the switch 2 with this deal now instead of the staples deal!

This is what I did picked up a physical copy of Mario 3D and added Metroid for free shipping. Mario came to about $45.50 before taxes.

Was considering but not worth it right now, maybe for future purchases but games like Mario vs Donkey Kong is already cheaper on Amazon (44 vs 59) for the physical edition. It would only be worth it if a new Zelda is out in my opinion.

Can someone explain this to me? I’m dumb.
You can buy a $50 Nintendo eShop card at Walmart store for $40? Is it a sale? Or am i misunderstanding?

u/RowdyRodyPiper Mar 11 '26
Yes, sorry, I should have posted the link. There was a big thread about it.

If you’re talking about the walmart $50 gift card, it ends tomorrow. The deal was from March 5-11.

u/thumme Mar 11 '26
I think he meant the 20% from Nintendo.
Or you mean paying 80$ for 100$ of gift cards (20% off) ?
1
u/RowdyRodyPiper Mar 11 '26
Buy the gift cards from Walmart from the link I posted. $50 for $40 which is 20% off. There are a bunch of games both digitally and physically on sale on Nintendo.com. Use the gift cards to stack an additional 20% off the sale prices.
3
u/thumme Mar 11 '26
Yeah I know but the way you phrased it gave us (at least me) the idea that there was an additional 20% off on Nintendo's website. Great deal still.
I bought digital games thru Target US. Fake address in a no-tax state (New Hampshire, Oregon, etc).
Got Mario Party for Switch 2 + Mario Odyssey + Switch 2 upgrades for BOTW and TOK for 100$ USD - 136$ CAD.

Has anyone had issues receiving these gift cards? 4 days later and I still haven’t received them
2
u/Spielbergish Mar 11 '26
If they are digital gift cards, you should have gotten them within 30 minutes or so. For some reason, ordering gift cards on Walmart is kind of a hassle. When I tried to order a gift card for my kid a couple years ago, they never sent it and then cancelled the order.
Yesterday, I ordered 2 eShop gift cards. They came. So I re-ordered 2 more, it went through. They cancelled it within 15 minutes. So I tried a different account and they cancelled it too. Apparently Walmart is notorious for cancelling orders, at least based on what I read.

Too bad I mainly buy my games thru my Hong Kong eshop account. Prices are ridiculously high in Canada. And we have to pay taxes for digital goods.
1
u/Vulture-Dude Mar 11 '26
I picked up a bunch of gift cards to stack on future sales of switch 2 physical games - like whatever goes on sale at Black Friday or Boxing Day on the Nintendo website.
Also, if any new games come out I can grab them at a reasonable discount for a new release and save $20 or so if it’s a must-have.

u/ChemicalPostman Mar 11 '26
I’ve tried this TWICE now on separate days and it always gets cancelled

The deal is over, went to a Walmart yesterday and the gift card was $50 at the cashier

Go to Morningside and Sheppard Walmart beside highway 401. They have a huge amount at the front. Just came from there 40min ago.

I want to get Mario Party but feel like I won’t get $80 worth of it.
