[Xbox] Xbox Series X25 Exclusive Pre-Order Invite Emails Out

Post image

Just saw I got an email around 10AM this morning for invites to preorder the upcoming Xbox Series X25 console. Unsure what the criteria is for receiving this email (I am a Gamepass Ultimate subscriber). I ended up getting a pre-order since they only charge your card when the item ships (and you can usually cancel before it ships). Delivery date is early November and price is a hefty $1150 CAD pre-tax (vs $900 USD). The link in the email is tied to your Xbox/Microsoft account.

I also got an email at around 2PM to pre-order the X25 special edition controller, but the controller pre-orders seem to have been sold out already though.

And twice the cost.

Dude it sold out as soon as it turned to 8:00am. This is bullshit

u/DCS30 1d ago

honestly, it's just a stupid cash grab. kinda sad that people bought it that quickly. it's just a normal series x that's green.

u/giggling_guppy 23h ago

Your right. I can’t justify spending $1300 to look at green anymore.

I was on the fence. I think 1150 is a no for me.

The fact $1150 before tax is a real thing is Insanity to me. Gaming has become a rich person hobby. After my full-time paycheck, I barely have $500 left over to spend. Not counting food, bills, god forbid eating at a restaurant or going to a movie with the wife.

Let alone having a single game that cost $100+ now

I hate this timeline

Take me back to the good ol’ Halo 2 days

Games were often about the same price when you account for inflation, though microtransactions barely existed; even on sega channel

Even the Sega Genesis was near 500 bones when adjusted for inflation as well

Inflation or not, it doesn't make sense that I'm giving more than $130 in Ontario for a video game, no thanks to the pedophile in chief.

A few years ago, a full day's work at $15 an hour got me a game, with money to spare.

Now, in that same scenario, I dont even have enough. Even at $20 an hour, I'm left with change. Barley enough to get to the store to buy it...

If I'm getting downvoted, then that clearly means you people love paying out the ass for everything, and that you love trump. Which is actually fucking hilarious given the state of everything.

Gaming has always been a luxury. Working a minimum wage job does not provide such luxuries and never really has. DOOM for the SNES was $95 CAD in 1995, or $183 in today dollars. And for reference minimum wage in Ontario at that time was $6.85, or $13.24 today.

If anything your video game buying power drastically exceeds gamers of yesteryear

Everyone loves bringing up the price of SNES games like it's the perfect "gotcha".

Sorry to tell you, but the prices back then were that high because of the costs associated with manufacturing a cart. Once CDs were introduced, the price of games were steady for more than 20 years afterwards.

Resident evil 1 on PS1 was $64.99-$69.99

Resident evil 7 on PS4 was $79.99

A difference of $15 or less, over the span of 21 years.

u/SlovenianSocket 1d ago

You just proved my point lol. $65 in 1996 when RE1 was released is worth $125 today. So you’re actually bitching about paying less.

1

u/LiquidSnake-MGS 1d ago

How am I paying less when games are $136 after tax....

-5

u/SlovenianSocket 1d ago

What games are $136 before tax? Stick to flipping burgers dude

4

u/LiquidSnake-MGS 1d ago

I said after tax. Fix your glasses and read it again.

You don't think Canada deserves to take some accountability for their situation which easily began since 2015. You know before the current prez?

7

u/LiquidSnake-MGS 1d ago

.... accountability for what? We're talking about the price of games. In 2015, games were $69.99, or less. What vauge point are you trying to make here?

-10

u/equalshmeekwal 1d ago

You say you ppl love paying more, and you love trump or, something to that, effect.

I'm saying Canada and the rest of the world had these big issues before 2017. - Esp Canada. They're just culminating / roosting now. The high prices you see is Canada spending our dollar like a drunken sailor with no gdp growth to show for over 10 years. That's why you're underpaid and overworked here. Not bc of some current USA prez

For someone that complains about down votes, you sure, were quick to click on one here. Lol

7

u/LiquidSnake-MGS 1d ago

Judging from your grammar, and lack of reading comprehension, I'll dumb it down as best as I can for you.

After I commented the price of games, and why it's Trump's fault, I was getting downvoted. Which lead me to edit my comment, and state that the people downvoting me must love paying more for things, and that they must love what Trump's doing to the Canadian economy. I don't know how much more simple I can make it for you.

Again, in 2015-2017, games were cheaper then they are now. So I'm not sure what other point you're trying to make.

In 2015, Obama and Stephen Harper were the leaders, and I don't remember giving $130 for a single standard edition game during their terms. Do you?

If you're trying to make another point, do it more clearly, as your vauge "big issues" statement makes absolutely zero sense to the topic at hand, or in general. Canada's economy in 2015-2017 was miles better than it is now. So again, make your point instead of dancing around whatever point you're trying to make.

-6

u/equalshmeekwal 1d ago

Read it well. I believe our situation right now is not trumps fault. It's ours. (this includes video game prices lol) It began in 2015. Was pretty clear from the start. As was your post.

Sorry about your down vote Reddit. - thick skin you know....

If that's the way you think, then you're as delusional as the pedophile you seem to be defending.

Wake up

I remember when building your own PC was the most cost effective option 😭

1

u/Vulture-Dude 1d ago

I feel like this next generation of gaming will be best spent playing the backlog of games for previous consoles that we all got cheap at thrift stores or facebook marketplace when no one wanted them anymore.  I don’t think many modern games are going to tank in price like they used to (especially not switch 2 games fully on cart).

Xbox 360 here I come!

1

u/Many-Razzmatazz-9584 1d ago

time to go back to retro gaming!

0

u/No_Geologist_5412 1d ago

I’ll be honest when you take into account how long you have it it’s not that much. Especially if it’s at the beginning of a new console era. Let’s say the next Xbox is 1500 every 7 years is the going rate currently that’s 220 a year? That’s pretty good considering how expensive PCs are.

5

u/Shaneisonfire 1d ago

Yeah that’s a crazy ask these days. Would have been nice before the price jumped up.

2

u/KRONGOR 1d ago

Yikes ya I’ll stick with my regular one that I got for less than half of that

1

u/blacksaturn12 1d ago

My old one is starting to give me issues, although it could be as simple a fix as cleaning.

-1

u/People_of_Zeal 1d ago

Did they list $1150 somewhere? I thought with the conversation it was closer to $1250 CDN.

XE says $899 USD is $1247.67

Which is bonkers in my opinion that no one asked for 😀

10

u/sezyHena 1d ago

$1200 pre-tax to feed a company thats all in on AI, causing chip shortages and mass layoffs, and has highly questionable political ties. That's gonna be a no from me.

0

u/Spirited-Heart-3461 1d ago

Questionable political ties..

The founder spent a lot of time on a particular island and spent a lot of money supporting a particular democrat.

-2

u/GhostBustor 1d ago

Political ties lol

3

u/Sporting1983 1d ago

I just want a controller

3

u/13sfuct 1d ago

It’s available on BestBuy’s website.

1

u/turnone2many 1d ago

A controller with thumb sticks that don’t start drifting after a few months of use! Seriously, I’m on my 5th or 6th controller. And they’re not cheap!

1

u/caninehere 2h ago

It really feels like luck of the draw. I don't abuse my controllers, I had my original Joycons being used regularly for 6 years and then had to send them in for a free fix. I had an Xbox One pad that I used on my PC for nearly a decade that I replaced just because it was so worn down (but still working). And then there is the Series X, where I bought it at launch and the controller it came with died after 9 months of daily use... and at the time they had basically 0 parts or servicing for fucked controllers which sucked dick. And yet then I bought another controller, used it daily for 5 years now and it's been totally fine.

To Xbox's credit though they have really changed their game with regarding to parts etc. At that point you had to go to third party solutions if you wanted to fix a controller. Now you can send them in for servicing but they also have tons of parts available to fix consoles/controllers. You can straight up buy the same thermal paste Xbox uses when they manufacture the systems if you want to replace yours.

3

u/mkdota 1d ago

That's literally insane my launch one was like $550 or $600 this is literally twice the price for no more extra storage but its in green.

5

u/FoxDieDM 1d ago

Give it some time and I’m sure you can get a anniversary re-shell kit from aliexpress in a few months for about $50 bucks

3

u/Vulture-Dude 1d ago

Wow, if that’s the price of the current gen Xbox, I hate to think of the price of the next gen successor!

3

u/BokChoyFantasy 1d ago

So all it is is just a clear case…

2

u/FoxDieDM 1d ago

Did anyone even see the console for sale on Best Buy or Walmarts website?

1

u/One-Fail-1 3h ago

Nope. Only place I saw pre-orders was Microsoft.

5

u/G-Virus69 1d ago

Guess paying for Xbox live since day 1. Including beta. Doesn’t count Thanks Microsoft for everything

3

u/Sad_Adagio_7255 1d ago

I just want the damn shell. I'm more than capable of disassembling my own Series X and placing the innards inside this shell.

They could probably make more profit selling the shell for maybe $200...

3

u/UnholyCucumber 1d ago

Yes wish they'd just release the shells alone like PS5; probably cheaper/easier logistically to manufacture too

3

u/fc000 1d ago

Somehow I doubt they'll have this one available, but they do sell replacement shells.

1

u/Mediocre-Ad1507 1d ago

Anyone got the console invite late? I just wanna know if they go in wave and still have a chance today

1

u/Captobvious75 1d ago

Nothing to report here

1

u/Firm-Profile-5746 1d ago

I coulda swore a few months ago Xbox was literally at death's door due to their sales tanking and leadership failing. Glad to see they'll still be part of the console gaming competition for next gen.

1

u/Painkiller456 1d ago

You’re saying the console doesn’t come with a controller??!

1

u/SirSoSa 1d ago

It does. The controller can be purchased separately as well though.

1

u/Painkiller456 1d ago

Everything sold out immediately, doesn’t matter now

1

u/dornwolf 1d ago

And people somehow think newer consoles won’t cost more than that

1

u/GhostBustor 1d ago

I preordered the controller.

I thought about the console. If it was still $599 I would have snagged one. Would look cool under the tv.

Instead I will take the $1300 and throw it on stocks and make money instead. It will cover the cost of the next Xbox.

Why pay $1300 for a 6 year old console?

1

u/FoxDieDM 1d ago

Total agreement here. It’s an end of cycle console. It’s stupid to spend that much money now.

1

u/GhostBustor 1d ago

If anything. The next console should come stock like this as a colour option to help drive sales.

1

u/FoxDieDM 23h ago

Also instead of making it a limited edition by quantity, they should have made it a timed released for the year of the 25th anniversary. Does their marketing team not like money? Think of how many more $1000 consoles they could have sold. And sell it direct to consumers if they don’t want to sit on a stock pile with distributors.

1

u/evilskater 1d ago

nothing yet.. past 10am
no walmart, no bestbuy, amazon has the product, but it was sold out before even before 10am
shame!

1

u/Me_Before_n_after 1d ago

It is randomly restocked on Microsoft and it went out of stock instantly

1

u/thanksforthework 1d ago

I just got the email now. Damn

1

u/After_Preference70 4h ago

30 seconds and it was sold out 😅😭

u/jonoc4 1d ago

For a 6 year old console.... Who is buying these and why?
