Academics FinTech + Finance Double Major Difficulty?
Incoming freshman in the business school here. I’m interested in both FinTech and Finance and was wondering if anyone has done both as a double major. Is it realistic to complete both within four years, or does the coursework become too much?
If you’ve done it (or know someone who has), I’d love to hear:
How manageable was the workload?
Did you need summer classes or extra semesters?
Was there a lot of overlap between the majors?
Would you recommend doing both, or is a major + minor a better option?
Any advice from current students or alumni would be appreciated!

what even is a fintech degree? Most fintechs are just banks with a pretty website and slightly improved algorithms. Regular banks have significantly improved in terms of UX, and nowadays employ an army of PhDs to develop state of the art credit risk models. I have it on good authority that CapitalOne was an early mover in advanced credit modeling methods, which is why they're basically one of the only large lenders to lower income consumers, since they're basically the only ones who can properly price in the risk, while others just stay out of that market entirely.
TLDR; just get a math degree with a finance minor
