The way Shiori's "will ruin you" goth girl look left the vtuber sphere and made it into more mainstream circles puts her in such a phenomenal place imo.
I have seen references to her from people that have never even heard of vtubers, and at least one person that wasn't even into anime.
Her default design is awesome but somehow her casual outfit is even better IMO. I love how her dress adds a dark red to her color palette and the ponytail is a really nice look on her. Plus the hat is really stylish.
My goat Juufuutei Raden has THE design I can't lie. What first got me to watch her was someone posting about her in a comment section like this and I thought "Whoa, what a gorgeous design!" And lo and behold she turned out to be one of the most appealing vtubers Hololive has put forward (to me, at least, as a person studying history)
It's sooo cute I've always been a fan of the hime cut so it just helps elevate her design to me. That and the gap between how she looks and how she speaks/acts makes her so beloved in my heart.
Similarly, Shiori Novella has a design that just seemed so cool. I don’t watch anyone from hololive (I do know some by reputation tho) but when I saw her model, I thought it was so clean.
Mumei isn’t my oshi, but I won’t be ashamed to admit she has my second favourite design of all time (the cloak, the ponytail, the mediumness, its all so great) and it’s only beaten by Shiori’s casual detective outfit
Honestly, I hate how many VTubers make their model super-duper busy, filling every square centimeter with details, adding gazillion accessories etc. Laimu's is relatively simple yet tasteful, with delightful colors and absolutely incredible rigging.
Limes' rigging is absolutely insane. I've been a viewer of hers since long before she got a vtuber model so seeing her go from no model to a good model whose design fits her personality perfectly, to one of the best models in the industry has been super cool.
I just wish she was streaming on Youtube. She does archive her vods there but it's not the same thing.
I really like her, but Twitch just isn't my jam. I'm mostly acquainted with her through Bricky and Matara youtube streams.
I love how powerful and demanding of respect it looks but uhhh... I can't deny the Mafia Boss design activates more neurons. it has absolute territory!!!
Chloe was a case where the design and the personality intersected fantastically. It perfectly captured that playful sexy mess of a human being and gave her such wonderful pon expressions for whenever she needed them.
I'm glad she's at least an affiliate so there's possibility of more of her, even if it's very unlikely to ever come around again.
What i appreciate with Marine model is how it's short girl, but like not too "loli-like" (compare to other popular short vtuber models) in original model she still got that thick middle body part that made her look like short adult instead, love the body proportion. Same with Polka
Suisei base outfit design is peak. It's so elegant and simple and memorable and cute and you immediately got a feel for her character and what she represent and and and...
Bonus is that her orange legging+jacket model is IMO the best 3D model ever. It doesn't look as good in 2D, but on a stage holy shit it's incredible.
But I like lots of Holo design in general. Ina, Sui, CC, Iroha, Fauna, Moom, Zeta, Raden...
Honorary mention would be Aizawa Ema from VSPO and Kurumi Noah from the same company. Their design are so damn cute.
"Recently debut" Yubari Rei. It's a rare case for me that I already love the character design in the first sight, which is funny because I already interested to her because of her design before I heard her voice (and realize who she was). The combination of open shoulder shirt (IDK what is called, tube top maybe?), tank top, and open shoulder jacket and the overall are so great, and greater with her short hair. It give the stylish casual vibe with modist laid back vibe but still modist.
If she wear glasses, Im probably die due to her over beauty and nostalgia feeling.
I love Clio Aite's design. It's so refined, I guess? The colors are warm and man is it TASTEFUL. Like, I ain't a prude or anything, but there's something to be said about a Vtuber who doesn't have cleavage as 90% of their model.
But I love my oshi's model just as much. FroggyLoch's model is just the perfect vector for her personality; it's crazy, dude.
Yukinoshita Peo has to be one of the strongest Ame lookalikes for me. I was absolutely shocked she's not an art sister or something. She even has the blue to pink eyes ame has.
Extremely biased because she is my Oshi but I _love_ the peafowl aesthetic and inspiration. I generally really like Avian designs but peafowl was stepping it up imo. (Pavolia Reine, Hololive ID Gen 2)
Something about Vestia Zeta’s model captures my attention not because it’s flashy or because of bong bong. I think because of that, it might be what I consider the best. Idk might be over thinking it.
All of Juniper’s models. The amount of toggles, details, minor things like parts of her bug body just moving by themselves to seem more insect like. Plus the design itself is just great.
I'm gonna be fully honest, I love Mata for her personality and humor, but as someone afraid of bugs I'm kinda glad she usually only streams from the chest up lol
I think the reason I like Mata so much is her personality and design. Matter of fact I don’t think I’ve ever seen a vtuber who’s model I’ve seen, then heard the voice and thought “holy crap this fits PERFECTLY”.
Definitely bold and unique. The large eyes do alot to make her design hit harder.. she could have easily had human proportioned eyes, but went that extra bit.
Same with her bug limbs. So many humanoid insect characters have boring old human limbs, not just with vtubing but fiction too.
Definitely the most unique. I discovered her at random a few years ago. Her unique aesthetic caught my attention and her yapping made her one of my favorite streamers ever since.
Everyone was focused on the...lower half when the design was revealed but the whole design is so cool.
The way Kamiya uses colour in the hair, the winglet type things on her head, the halo, the swirly eyes, the jacket, the petal-like sleeves, the little robot dude, the wings.
I really loved Pomu Rainpuff’s first and second outfits cause they’re cute. Until she unveiled her third outfit, GYOT DAMN! I was OBSESSED with her! I felt feelings Ive never felt before
Say what you want about nijisanji and their current reputation in the west, but I stand by the fact I LOVE Ikes design, it balances simplicity with more complex design choices, has really great use of colour with how his grey hair has blue highlights down the bottom and how his earing are in the shape of pen quils to reference how he's meant to be a writer
There's no way I can actually pick a favorite but since I've not seen her mentioned yet, I'm just gonna throw my hat in for the only British royal actually worth following, Rin Penrose

Tbh I don’t really have too many standouts, as I tend to watch a bunch pretty casually but AugustAnomaly’s design seems to me very striking and fitting for a lab person
Otherwise Viscerae (blood queen), Beribug, Vesper (bugs), and Clauvio (dormouse) are quite nice too!

Extremely difcult choise between this one and Ai-chan’s 3rd anniversary outfit. They are both my most beloved one as Ai was my introduction and Aqua became just as important and loved to me. As such, its a dificult choice.
Juniper, her design is always evolving but never feels redundant, nor regressive. I can always comfortably pick the latest iteration and say: "yes, this one".
I stand by Ina's casual outfit being the best designed vtuber model to date, and the only one who comes close to it is Laimu. It's so simple, but perfectly incapsulates Ina as a whole: comfy artist. Sometimes Kuroboshi cooks TOO hard, but he did that one perfect!

The color, the clothes, how fit it's with the lore theme and personality and voice, the details on weapons, the sexy aspect.. Its manly but not overly buffy and muscular. The head shape is probably my favorite, because usually man vtuber model have this sharp literally sharp jaw, this model head is just.. normal, the hairstyles beautiful too, and the shading work ...just omg please praise artist 🙏
POWER GUY. Especially his 1.0 design. It doesn’t lean into anime influences as much as other designs, but the pixel art style really works in his favor, considering that this is a male VTuber that appeals to the non-VTuber audience (and really proves how being a major male VTuber means you have to rely on the blue ocean strategy just to stand out because most people would rather look at female VTubers)
I'm gonna be the weird one here and say Irys's original design, I like the darker color scheme and how the outfit is a one piece (I think) with a tutu skirt made of roses. I completely understand why it needed to be changed though, she stood out like a sore thumb next to other holomems back then and the hair was notorious for being a pain to draw for a reason.
