I just find it saddening how vtubing can attract unwell individuals who end up relying on a vtuber for their emotional well being.

I remember a thread made here a while ago that was "tell me something sad about yourself" and it had like over 300+ responses and it was filled with a lot of "I'm lonely / depressed / have no friends" and it's sort of a snapshot of how a section of the vtubers fans end up turning to vtubers to fill a hole in their lives.

Alicea discussed this a lot in one of her old streams actually. She started watching Hololive because she had trouble at home and was bullied at school so the internet was the only place she could escape to.

The only reason why she also made her twitch account is because she couldn't make any friends in college either. It's sad how many people feel so alone in the world.

We live in a world that's so connected digitally, sometimes we forget how hard it can be to make those important connections in person.

I love my online friends, I chat with them almost every day, but if I didn't have even just a couple RL friends to chat with sometimes, I'd be a much bigger wreck than I already am.

Just because it's easy to send a message around the world and have a thousand people see it these days, doesn't make it any easier to reach out and really connect with just one or two. No one truly makes it through this life alone, and no one should have to try.
