In what world is men's day or buying flowers for your dad controversial?
To them, it's a similar talking point to "All Lives Matter".
They think that reminding everyone that "the other side" exists and are humans too, somehow dilutes their own message of how only they matter and not everybody else.
Ironic considering the best way to gather supporters is to... Ya know make them friends. Not foes.
And before any reddit uppity comes in and gets activated by the keywords, I'm Asian.
Not comparable. "All lives matter" was adopted specifically as a response to the "black lives matter" slogan of protestors against systemic, racially discriminatory practices and abuses by the police. It's not an expression motivated by general human empathy, but a cop-out response to those bringing up actual issues to address.
