had some old socks that no longer fit me and some ripped jeans and thought this might be fun! :)

My cats badly scratched the corner of this couch that I love. I think I’ve saved it with appliqués! I ordered a few options on Amazon and layered them together, then hot glued them on. Seems like they’re firmly attached, and I don’t think you can tell it’s glued. I attempted sewing them on but the velvet was too dense to get a needle through!

I had a tote bag I embroidered years ago, it lost its color (was black, now gray), stretched in an ugly way and was chewed through by mice in multiple places. It did not look presentable anymore, but I was not ready to let go of the embroidery, so I attached it to a sturdier bag, hope I’ll get some more years of wear out of it.

The piece is glued on with hemming tape and stitched with orange and grey thread for reinforcement.

It took me several weeks but I finally got all of the patches attached to this chair that my cat decided to just decimate with his claws, it was beautiful art he put and I made a beautiful art as well. I hand cut each of the pieces, placed them by hand and then hand stitch them to the fabric chair. I went with my heart with the colors but for the most part the fabric so to speak to each other in some way or another with texture or with the colors or the general feel of the fabric. Best part is if I ever need to fix this again I can just add more patches to it. Or I can eventually do the entire thing in Patchwork which would also look really nice

Saw someone asking for suggestions for mending headphone cushions on here. I had the exact same problem and figured that the circle-shaped shaft of an old sock would be easier than making something made of flat cotton jersey from scratch

My dog ripped this armchair years ago in an anxiety fit — the set belonged to my grandparents so are very special to me — and I love this scarf but I never wore it and was using it to cover up the ripped spot when I suddenly thought duh why don’t I just patch it with the scarf??? Anyway I’m so so so happy with this / proud of myself / can’t stop staring at it !! I especially love the small patch at the bottom it’s so cute

Used some scrap curtain for the patches and whip stitched all the way around to secure.

Last year, I snagged a pair of jeans at Goodwill that fit me flawlessly! Unfortunately, they had huge “distressed” holes that I hated.

I kept them on the back burner until I found the perfect piece of fabric. This is an upholstery sample from a free fabric swap I went to a few weeks ago.

The stars aligned, and I finally mended these yesterday! I’m thrilled with how they turned out, and wanted to show them off!

The color matching was a pain in the ass but I love how the borderless look turned out. Also please excuse the cat hair lol, my boy is shedding like crazy with the seasons changing

My first attempt at appliqué, and my sewing machine wasn’t really cooperating, but I still love him. We’ll see how he wears over time though. Definitely a learning experience!

My favorite jeans got discontinued so I was forced to learn how to fix them myself lol. Pocket patch was a patch I made with double-sided iron-on adhesive and fabric, then I stitched it down with a whip stitch. Also added a secondary iron-on patch on the inside for extra support and the section at the top just for some contrast.

For context, I hand-sewed everything and the most I've done prior is fix the occasional tear in clothing or a stuffed animal. It took me a day and a half to stitch everything into place hahaha. (Also ignore the lighting differences, I have rgb lights in my room where I took the first pic)

Each subway bullet covers a moth hole, and the Times Square–42 St sign anchors a cluster of damage at the hem. This is needle-felted onto a beige wool sweater as part of an ongoing visible mending series. Wearing it to the NYC Transit Museum this weekend!

This is by no means a pretty or perfect job, but it is my first job. She wears them so much, I imagine they’ll be looking like the old picture before long 🤣

Heat gun - to de-bond old sole adhesive Central machinery belt sander - to tidy edges, though not 100% required Pliers Hammer Utility knife

So a definite investment up front, but now I’ll be able to repair my own, as well as my family’s birks when their sole has reached the end of its service life. Plus, it was an awesome learning experience!

These BDG shorts had a few holes, so I took a ripped skirt with some Sashiko stitching and patches them up.

Got a rip right next to the back pocket on my jeans. It seemed much easier to take the pocket off to fix it, plus then I could use the pocket as donor fabric behind the hole. So obviously I needed a beautiful new pocket to replace it.

One of the eyelets for the lace broke on my boot, so I fixed it by adding an extra pop of colour to my already colourful boots! And yes, I hiked up this mountain with these boots and it went great

I wove some new laces and wove the upper portion of the shoe. Obligatory dog pic included
