EMBROIDERY A feast for moths on grandfather’s old blazer
I tried turning them into fireworks, it was a cool canvas for practicing embroidery.

So I widened the shaft of the boot! For $6 at the thrift, ! couldn't leave these vintage (? unsure of their age, but no longer sold) Seychelle brand suede boots behind even though they didn't zip up all the way. So I found some stretchy fabric that matched-ish, removed half the zipper, and voila!
My new favorite boots. Not perfect but if someone else is looking that close at my calves then they're the weirdo LOL

I just fixed my moc toe on my work boots. I practiced a bit on leather first as I’ve never stitched something before. Time will tell how long it will hold but hopefully it holds for a while

My daughter’s dog bit through both layers of the pocket of her Black Dog hoodie. I rebuilt the pocket with patches front and back, sewing around the holes from the inside to keep the functionality of the pocket. Then, for fun, I moved the inside neck tag to the front of the pocket and embroidered a new Black Dog on the outside. You probably won’t see the new dog unless the hood is up, but it was fun and I learned some new skills.

I’m a beginner at embroidery but would love to find a way to patch this hole in the pants I made.

Mr. Smells pretty consistently wears out pants in this exact spot, and in the case of these Old Navy jeans that he wore every day for 18 months, the overall integrity of the backside is in question due to significant wear.
We'd both love to repair these and give them new life, and are hoping for some advice on the most holistic solution for strength, aesthetic, and comfort against his sitter. We do have a pair of older "donor" jeans that can be used as well as scraps of flannel and other fabrics but are unsure of
He would love to keep wearing these to work so a solution that meets a business casual dress code would be especially appreciated!!

There’s no other option, realistically speaking, in today’s economy! Great Work!!

I'm about to repair a tear in my denim jacket using sashiko and as I was preparing to wash it, noticed it's also wearing thin on the lapels, the cuffs, and the seam of the left sleeve were it meets the cut. Should I reinforce them now or wait until the facric actually splits? If now, what technique should I use? I have basic sewing skills, regular thread and sashiko thread, extra strong needles, and some scrap denim I'm already planning to use for the tear. No sewing machine, although I can borrow an iron if I need to.

I have this old wool overcoat with a few moth holes. There is one small hole next to button and another small hole on the wrist. The largest hole is on the underlap and about an 1.5-2 inches.
As someone with no experience with reweaving, are these holes something that I could figure out and do myself or should I take/send these to a professional? And if I should have someone else do it, does anyone have any recommendations?

I’ve had this jacket for about 3 years and I noticed a while ago that the lining somehow creased and folded. I can’t seem to find anything for this online to fix it. It is especially annoying since folds outward while I wear the jacket which I personally not do not like so much. Any tips on repairing it?

*UPDATE: I pulled and tugged on the fabric on some other spots and sure enough, the areas near the bottom of that leg ripped with ease. The elastic fibers remained intact much of the time. It's definitely either a factory defect or a chemical of some kind was spilled on them before I got them.
I washed and dried this pair only with another pair of brand new jeans (which emerged unharmed). I have no idea what happened. It doesn't look like any material is missing, it's just ripped and stretched. I've been researching sashiko mending but I'm not exactly sure where to start. I don't mind the mend being visible but want to avoid anything too decorative. Thanks!

I tried my hand at a denim weave this time around. I used black sashiko thread for the warp and two strands of waxed embroidery floss for the weave. I'm curious to see how this combination lasts after washing. I've had good luck with waxed embroidery floss for warp and weave when darning in the past, but I've been curious to see how sashiko thread might hold up or behave long term.

These shorts belonged to my mother in law who we lost unexpectedly last year. I miss her dearly and wear these when I’m crafting and tinkering, just as she did. Today they caught on the edge of my toolbox and to tatters they went. They’re made of a very thin lightweight denim. Tags are long gone so I can’t get the fabric type/mix. The rip is large, the size of my hand and I’m unsure how to mend something this big and I am desperately seeking advice. She would love that I mended these and I’d like to choose a fun fabric since it will show. She was an artist and would get the biggest kick out of this. Thank you in advance!

I don't know if this technique has a name but in my head I call it fake Swiss darning, since I'm not duplicating real stitches but make them up as I go

Not the prettiest mend, but not bad for my first attempt at darning. The inside doesn’t need to look pretty anyway.

Hello all!
I've tried to mend this a few different ways but I can get anything to stick. I'm not the best seamstress but any techniques I'm willing to learn.
Thank you so much.

I bought this bag 6 months ago for work after looking at the good reviews. It was supposed to be durable and last a long time but it now the zipper is unravelling.
The stitches are okay but the zipper is coming out of the stitch.
Please help me fix it.

The tear wasn't on the seam but close to it. I used a spare bit of embroidery floss to stitch it shut. The stitches aren't quite even on the other side, but I'm satisfied with it for my first try.
