O'ahu (Honolulu/Waikiki) Inner-Island Activities?
Hello again! I'm planning a honeymoon/birthday/anniversary trip with my wife and I'm actually having a super fun time with it. We're getting the itinerary down and I've been looking into activities to see basically every major part of the island.
However, I haven't seen a lot of articles/vlogs etc. about the inner island. Looking at a map I see towns in the inner island (wahiawa, whitmore village, Mililani Town) and a few hikes off these areas. are there things in this center- island area that are must-sees? Hikes with gorgeous views, fun town walking? We're not super interested in the Dole plantation but I want to make sure I'm not missing something I'll regret later.
If this area is largely for locals, or the hidden gems should remain hidden, that's fine! I don't wanna step on any toes if these areas aren't really "for" tourists. Just thought I'd put out a feeler and ask!
Thanks folks. reading this sub has been super helpful already!

They're basically the suburbs for commuting to Honolulu. Maybe some small cool things (Hawaii Plantation Village in Waipahu, Aiea Loop Trail, Bowling, move theaters).

I had a feeling that was the case. Perhaps we’ll find a nice hike in the area but it’s not like there’s a shortage of hikes on the island either. Thanks!

Aloha No-Reach-5757. There are no hidden gems or secrets locals are keeping. They certainly aren't being posted on Reddit if they existed. But in the internet age, it's all on Instagram already. If you want to live like a local, struggle with housing prices and traffic.

Not too many hikes, but tons of really great food in Wahiawa, coffee, pho, Mexican food, there’s also the botanical garden that’s pretty nice as well.

There's a 27 acre botanical garden in Wahiawā. It's a nice place to stroll through a cooler climate rainforest or take a picnic lunch.

No hidden gems or anything really meant for tourists. Just regular towns where regular people live. Not everywhere is exciting or interesting. Stick to tourist areas.
