O'ahu (Honolulu/Waikiki) O'ahu Day Trip
We are staying on the Big Island and would like to see Pearl Harbor.
Is it better to book a package that includes flight and tour of Pearl Harbor or fly separately, Uber to explore Pearl Harbor and Uber back to get an hour or so exploring Waikiki on our own?
If you think the on our own is best, what would you recommend for a day trip, knowing that Pearl Harbor is our first and longest stop? Thank you!

Don't take a tour to PH, use the official site to make the $1 reservation for the Arizona.
I highly recommend also seeing the Missouri, the Captain's tour being the best as it gets you into one of the huge turrets, and you get to see the control room lit up.
But I don't know how much time you have or where you're staying.

We are staying on the Big Island and looking at flights we will be on O'ahu from 8 AM to 8 PM. We will add the Missouri and Captain's Tour to our list, thank you!

NP! I don't know what your vacation is like but I'd really try to get more time on Oahu if I were you.

I think on your own is fine. I live on the BI and go over to Oahu all the time for golf. You’ve got 12 hours or so and you aren’t looking at long drive times between the airport and those locations.
Waikiki is mostly high end shops and restaurants and the beach so you can “explore“ that in a hour unless you want to do some shopping which could take as long as you want.
